I hope you can see the video that I have for you here! This was the video of "This Month on TCM" but it was the one from December of 2020. I really like it! It is wonderful to see all these snippets from old films. (It is so wonderful to see Dick Van Dyke here, he turned 100 this year! And Spinal Tap also makes an appearance!) The song is "Good People", and I really love the lyrics. And I looked up the singer/songwriter and he is from England! His name is Rhys Lewis and I have the last part of the song lyrics here for you...
"We've all got good people in life to be thankful for.
We've all got good people in life to be thankful for.
So, tell them how it is, how you couldn't live
Without the love they give.
We've all got good people in life to be thankful for.
I'm lucky I got
Good people helping me out.
Yeah, I've got good people there when I'm down,
Yeah, I've got good people lifting me up.
When I'm low, I'm lucky I know good people.
There, don't you agree? And if you don't have good people in your life, FIND them! Now, I must tell you, all you lovely people who read my blog, I consider you part of that group of good people.
Thank you!
Now, it seems that a lot of folks are preparing for a "Stranger Things" watch party for Dec. 31st! I have seen all sorts of ways to prepare foods that look like the scary monster, "Demogorgon"! I have even seen a crochet pattern! It is all very clever, and I am sure will be lots of fun for people. I think I have told you before that "Stranger Things" has had a lot of the filming done right here in the state of Georgia. It has been fun to watch and to recognize bits here and there. The BEST thing about this TV series, I love how much the characters care about each other. That seems to spill over into real life, as the actors seem to be close friends. Good people!
The closest I can get to the scary flower face monster is the very tall amaryllis, with four blooms! Nothing scary there. Take care everyone and watch out for "Stranger Things"! (Look at the amaryllis just as it begins to grow, is it just me or does it look a wee bit like a monster?)
All my life I've been having Good People around me, and I am grateful for each and everyone every day, both those who are not longer with us and the ones who are - and of course i hope and aspire to be one of their Good People, too.
ReplyDeleteMy sister watched "Stranger Things", I think, but I never have; somehow the series does not appeal to me. But of course I wish you a lot of fun watching, if you do :-)
You know how much I agree with you, I am very thankful for all the good people in my life and I do hope very much that I am also a good person for others! I must admit I really loved "Stranger Things" when the characters were just kids. Still, I find the show pretty well done. If you watch it, you might recognize the railroad tracks from Stone Mountain!
DeleteWish you all the best for 2026 ! Around Good People of course ;)
ReplyDeleteAnna
Same for you! Happy new year!
DeleteNever heard of "Stranger Things". I do count my blogging friends among the "good people" in my life, though :)
ReplyDeleteOur blogging friends are our friends even if we never meet them in person.
DeleteEnjoy the Stranger Things finale!
ReplyDeleteHope you did too!
DeleteWe all need good people, and to try and be good people. Happy 2026!
ReplyDeleteHappy 2026 to you too!
DeleteOh my, I'd never heard that song before but I love the lyrics, I too have a lot of good people in my life. One of my sons was just telling me that they watch stranger things. It's a bit too scary for me. I hope you enjoy a safe and happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHa! You sound like me! I tend to look away during the really scary bits. That way, I can watch a series like that! Happy New year!
DeleteAmazing that Dick Van Dyke is still going strong. Watched North by NorthWest on TV yesterday and out of curiosity looked up Eva Marie Saint as I didn't remember her in any other classic colour films of that time period. She's 101 now so must be doing something right. I'll be content to get to mid 70s. That's plenty for me.
ReplyDelete"Live long and prosper" from Star Trek, that is what I think to say to you here! Funny thing, you will get to your mid 70's and say, "well, maybe just a little bit longer..." LOL! Happy new year!
DeleteI have been so blessed to have so many good people in my life. There is a certain Georgia Girl With An English Heart I count among them. You usually have such upbeat posts. And your love of music fills me with joy. Thank you for being a good person.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yet, I looked at your profile, and it looks as if you have never written a post yet. Please do so and let me know if you do. Always nice to see your sweet comments. Happy New year.
DeleteCheck https://mdleaves.blogspot.com/. I have been blogging since 2013.
DeleteI wonder why that doesn't come up when I click on your name?
DeleteBeautiful flower. Good people around is always a plus. Happy New Years to you.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Happy new year! My husband is the talent with the flowers, I just get to enjoy them. Lucky me!
DeleteIt's wonderful to have good people around you. Lovely amaryllis. I was interested to read (in your sidebar) that you married your penpal. One of my cousins did, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Wish you a very happy New Year.
Thank you! And Happy new year!! (I wonder if kids these days could even think of having a pen pal, handwritten letters being the only way to communicate!
DeleteThere are so many Good People. As for the stranger things in life, I simply leave them alone. I have enough to do dealing with work.
ReplyDeleteI pray you and your family have a blessed and beautiful 2026.
Happy new year to you!
DeleteThanks for sharing that video. I like the song too.
ReplyDeleteOh, so glad you liked the song too! Happy new year!
DeleteI have not heard of 'Stranger Things' - but I will look out for it. Blog friends are definitely part of the Good People, and I treasure good friends wherever I find them: quilting groups, art groups, church, wherever. Like finds like, I think. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, those who read my blog are people that I would like to have around me in my life and by blogging, I have them there! Happy new year!
DeleteI find the mirror is the strangest thing in this house...
ReplyDeleteAh, the mirror. It is all a lie. We still look just as we did in our 30's. Of course, I don't wear my glasses when I look in a mirror. LOL! Happy new year!
DeleteI think I need to watch Stranger Things. I started watching the first season and then life got whipped around with John's illness getting worse--so I never got around to watching anything after Season One. I know that people love it.
ReplyDeleteYou are part of my "good people" blogging world, Kay! I hope you have a blessed, wonderful New Year- xo Diana
YOU are one of my good people too, Diana! Take care and have a lovely 2026. x
DeleteI could see the video, and I loved it. Love classic films. I'm blessed to have many good people in my life. American Masters on PBS has a show about Dick Van Dyke. It's excellent. Every day he swims and goes to the gym to lift weights.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
SO happy that you watched the video. Wasn't it simply wonderful? Dick Van Dyke not only exercises but also, surrounds himself with his good people too! Both are important, I think. Happy new year!!
DeleteThank you for sharing this video. Happy New Year to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for watching it! Happy new year!!
DeleteHello Kay. HNY and all that, I hope you had a lovely Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hijack your blog again, but I wrote to Richard about a month ago and haven't heard from him. Is my email playing up again, or is he just being idle? All the best to you all for 2026.
Dave
Hey Dave! YES! Richard did get your email. He promises that he will reply to you as soon as he can. He is always very busy. By the way, I LOVED the Christmas card you sent. "Starry Trees" by Jan Pashley. Love her art! https://www.janpashley.co.uk/
DeleteTake care and say hello to all the family. Happy new year!
Thanks Kay. Please tell him that it's my e-mail I don't trust, not him! Thanks also for your card, I hope we all meet up again one day soon.
ReplyDeleteD
Our Richard is most trustworthy, we can all agree! Now, I hope that you were able to look at the video too. It is just great to see all those bits of film edited together and to have them all related to each bit before and after. And just perfectly with the music too! Oh, I also hope to get back to England one day too, to walk on the same paths as Kipling!
DeleteI love the video, I'm lucky to have lots of good people. I'm going to start watching the next series of Stranger Things.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the video too! "Stranger Things" was filmed in Georgia except for the desert scenes, those were in New Mexico, I think. Yay for good people!
DeleteHello dear Kay, thank you so much for your visits and kind comments on my blog posts. Yes, that is indeed myself. I had a blog Linda's Peaceful Place for 6 years, from the beginning of 2012 to the end of 2017. I had no computer for over 7 years and lost access to my old blog.
ReplyDeleteI began Linda's Relaxing Lair at the end of March last year.
I thought that was you, Linda! 😍When I was typing my comment to you about peace, it suddenly came to me that you were the same Linda! Bless you, I am old and forgetful now, LOL. Listen, you are a dear sweet lady who gives great encouragement to many. I hope you feel the healing power of love from all your blogging friends. I am only one of them. God bless you and keep you.
DeleteThat is a great lyric, and I enjoyed seeing the movie clips. I've never seen 'Stranger Things', but have heard so many good things about it that now I am tempted to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family are all doing well. Happy New Year to you, Kay!
Great to see your comment here, dear Sue! Yes! Richard and I have had some health problems but we are well and walking on our trails! Now listen, those first 4 seasons of Stranger Things were very good. The kids were so sweet with each other abd much of it was filmed in Conyers, Georgia or in towns around here. That 5th season? I say don't bother! The finale was so bad, I wonder if it had been written by a different writer. Happy New Year to you! I am crocheting still and you know I think of you, happily working with the lovely yarn also. xx
