Sometimes, I wake up from a dream and there will be a few words that are somehow lodged into my brain... "Straight up with no irony" is a phrase that I woke up to recently. The day before I had liked a TV advertisement so much that I paused the TV so that Richard could see it when he came back inside from his gardening.
Here, let me show it to you....
There, were you able to see it? It is called "A Beautiful Silence", It was filmed in Yosemite National Park and while it uses actors, the young actor is actually deaf, his name is Keivonn Woodard.
"Share the special feeling that nature brings forth".
And I might not ever make it to Yosemite myself, so I am grateful to see it in this commercial. (I am reading "Son of the Wilderness: The Life of John Muir" by Linnie Marsh Wolfe.)
Toccoa Falls, Georgia
The expression "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is a good one. Look how great our son is with plants! Just like his Dad. (The two photos above are from 2020 just before the lockdown.)
Hey! Today is Richard's birthday! I must have a song for you with this post. It is most likely a song that Richard sings every day....
"Ain't No Pleasing You"! LOL!
Take care, everyone!
Happy Birthday to Richard! Clearly a green thumb runs in the family!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! I am proud of them both!
DeleteLove the ad and especially LOVE THAT SONG! Trying to figure out how to send it to my ex. Thanks for the smile and Happy Birthday to Richard.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like the song!! Look up Chas & Dave and you can see more great songs like that one. (They wrote it, I just liked this version by Joe Brown.)
DeleteI wish Richard many happy returns of his birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much! Stay cool down there in Louisiana!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Richard! I hope Kay made miracle cookies or something other special for you :-)
ReplyDeleteKay, the advert is beautiful and touching. Still, I can't help seeing the irony in us humans needing cars to get to such beautiful places - we love them but we contribute to ruining them by our getting and being there. It's a very thin line that wants careful treading.
Oh yes, I made the Miracle Cookies AND a lemon cake with lemons from our own tree!
DeleteThis is AMERICA and one has to drive long distances to get anywhere, it seems. You have reminded me of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway, compared to the 1996 Summer Olympics here in Georgia. In Norway, they used trains to get to the venues and I remember that they even put in a special track which was brand new, just for the games! Here in Georgia, even though it was listed as ATLANTA, they had events not only in the city itself but also, in Athens, Conyers and even way up in the mountains of Georgia, which are about 100 miles away! No train service there either, all had to go by cars.
I have liked this commercial from the first time I saw it.The silent appreciation of beauty makes me feel good. Happy Birthday Richard.
ReplyDeleteIt was especially moving for me to learn that the little boy is actually deaf. It is powerful thing to FEEL a waterfall and I love how this ad shows that in such a wonderful way.
DeleteThanks, Janie. I am probably the last one to see the ad but I'm always a day late and a dollar short. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAhhh! The serenity...the beauty..the peace....
ReplyDeleteA Happy Birthday to Richard coming from way down here! Take care one and all. :)
Thank you! Lovely to tell him that he has wishes from lovely Lee in Australia! x
DeleteHappy Birthday to Richard as well. Nice selection of photos. Bob.
ReplyDeleteHey Bob! Thanks for the well wishes from Scotland! Much appreciated. x
DeleteJust visiting from Eagleton Notes. How nice to see and hear Joe Brown again:-)
ReplyDeleteI love him! I've had Joe Brown on here before, "I'll See You In My Dreams". I love that song and I love how he did it! Gee, 3 loves there!๐
DeleteThanks very much for your comment!
DeleteHow beautiful it looks at Yosemite. I do not think I will ever see it, although two of my children have. The young actor looks like such a lovely boy, bless him. Happy Birthday to Richard!
ReplyDeleteEven if I never see Yosemite, I am pleased to recognize it whenever I see it in a photo or on TV. I love waterfalls. I think Toccoa Falls might be one of my earliest memories. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Red Cardinal! xx
DeleteHappy Birthday Richard! I will not sing for you, you ought to be pleased by that...
ReplyDeleteThanks! You know I sang to him!๐
DeleteBeen to the Grand Canyon but not Yosemite proper. Happy Birthday to your Richard!

Thanks, Donna! And hugs to you also. Grand Canyon is a hopeful destination for me!
