Hung Up On A Dream- The Zombies

The Zombies! Wouldn't it be great if someone did a documentary about this great English group from the 1960's? They have! It is called "Hung Up On A Dream", which is one of their songs, of course!

"Underrated" and "A Genius Band" are just some of the comments that I have read about them .  I hope you will agree with me!

The following two videos are from 2019 and 2021.  I think the first one was at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The second one was at the Abbey Road Studio.

"From teenage friends to legends in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".

I honestly don't spend ALL my time listening to videos on YouTube!
Sometimes, I get out and walk and enjoy nature.  Our redbud trees have been beautiful. They are native trees, and you can not only see them in front gardens and formal settings but also growing wild in the woods. They are such a beautiful shade of lavender/purple. Please don't ask me why they are called "redbud".  I asked my Dad that once and he said, "Well, I can't help it, that's what they are!"
Oh, how he made me laugh! (And he would always laugh with me.)

Take care everyone, let me know if you can listen to the videos that I have given you here.

  1. "Somebody was making a fortune and it certainly wasn't us" -- that is too often the sad, sad story of those singers and musicians who work in the music industry, then and now.

    1. And even if the artists have made a fortune, it must really be hard when they lose their song catalogs. I just heard a TV advert during the Oscars using the song "All Together Now" by The Beatles. I guess SONY gets the money from that.

  2. Seeing the groups of our youth as they look now always surprises me. I know I've grown older and changed but I guess they will always be young in my mind! I always loved the Zombies! Yes, I could hear the videos just fine. We had a pretty red bud tree in my yard but it died and I was so sad. Then I noticed that we have two that are growing wild by the creek and I look forward to seeing them every Spring. It will be a while before that happens in my neck of the woods! Have a good rest of your weekend Kay!

    1. Yes! Wild redbud trees! They are so lovely and such a welcome sight! I must admit I feel a tinge of sadness when I see those young faces from the 1960's, how they look in their old age now but there are so many that we have lost. I hope you have a good rest of the week!!

  3. I don‘t have time to watch the videos right now but I don‘t think I have ever heard the band‘s name - maybe they were not popular over here.
The redbud tree is gorgeous! It lifts my spirits no end when I see trees and shrubs in blossom, like we did yesterday on a walk around O.K.‘s village.

    2. No, I don't know any of their songs, sorry.
In the "Tell Her No" video they look about 14 years old :-)

    3. Am I right in thinking that you were born in 1968? It's a wonder you know any music from the 60's! 😊And I think the Zombies were still teenagers in that video, so young!

    4. Yes, I was born in 1968. My Dad listened to a lot of 60s music when my sister and I grew up; we were bottle-fed on it :-)

    5. My sister was born in 1966 and she was the same way! Her lullabies were all the music from The Monkees!!

  5. Those redbuds are a sure sign of Spring. I'm try to be patient waiting for it to get here. We get a tease now and then but we are still very cold and are seeing some light snow.

  9. They were excellent, another of the wonderful bands of the era which has not been forgotten by fans. My Sweetie seems to know every one of them, and has introduced me to them all.

I hope you have a blessed week!

  10. Wonderful, Kay. Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone. I don't know their material well, but my favourite has to be 'She's Not There' - classic! Of course, I don't remember the 60s...

  12. I've always wondered about redbud trees too. The blossoms are so intensely pinky-purple. How lovely that you have them growing wild there. We won't see redbud blossoms here until next month, but it's such a magical time of year when they bloom.

No speakers on my computer, but I'll have to check out the Zombies next time I'm on my tablet.

    1. Hey Sue! I've read that redbuds are called that because when the tree first buds, the buds are a very dark maroon close to red. I suppose I will have to photograph one in that early stage next Spring! Hope you like the videos! I give me speakers a workout every day! LOL!
