"Like A Twig" and "Window, Window"

(This was at a restaurant and Richard liked the bottles over the bar!)

How has this year been going for you all? Anybody else tired of all the bad news and want to hear something good for a change? I was very pleased to learn that John Fogerty after a fifty year battle, now has the rights to his own songs that he wrote while he was a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival! These songs would include "Bad Moon Rising", "Have You Ever Seen the Rain", "Proud Mary" and "Fortunate Son".   John Fogerty had the rights to his solo material but think of this...whenever he sang any of those songs that I just told you about, he would have to PAY to play them!  It got to the point that John Fogerty only wanted to perform his solo songs and I can hardly blame him! (It is a bit complicated for me to understand, it is not a 100% win for him but nevertheless, if he is happy then I am happy.) You may read more about it just here.

For some other good news, I think I might be able to get some videos of my FAVORITE songwriter! This would be our son, Christopher when he was in the band, the Sevens! This is when he performed at Smith's Old Bar in Atlanta in 2013!  Don't you want to hear him sing and to play the guitar? Sure you do!  (I notice that one of my blog posts about our son has been viewed almost 100 times this week! And the blog post is from years ago too! Can anyone tell me why that is?)   The blog post is "Christopher, The Babe and A Great Writer" you may read it here.

                  "Like A Twig"

"Window, Window"

Both of these songs were written by Christopher!
The recordings aren't great but I promise you he is a great singer and guitarist.  And he has them under his own copyright too!

Hope you are all doing well, my friends.  Peace!

  1. Your photo of the church window in hues of blues is very pretty. My husband and I saw John Fogarty and Creedence Clearwater Revival perform in person many times, loved that band. They played at Fillmore West. Nice he won his legal battle, and that your son was in a band. One of my sons was lead singer in a local band.

    1. How lucky you were to see CCR in concert! I bet you would like our son's music too. Musical talent is a gift that should be shared.

  2. Your son is very talented! My #3 son plays guitar and wrote some of his songs when he had a band years ago. It's fun to see them develop and use their talents! I tried to read his articles but they wouldn't show up. I'm sure they are good too! I think he looks a lot like his Dad! Have a good week!

    1. Thanks! Yes, C. does look like his father. Except when he was a kid, he looked just like me, poor fella! LOL! Take care!

  3. Is Christopher in a new band now, or is he going as a solo singer-songwriter?

    1. Funny you should ask that question, most of the members of that band have moved away so he is a solo act these days. He still writes and sings and plays guitar but he does this in his own home. If only he would get out again in front of folks!

  4. Hello Kay, I don't have time right now (pre-work) to watch the videos but will do so tonight or tomorrow morning. From previous videos, I know how good your son's voice is and that he is a truly talented musician and songwriter.
Can't comment on John Fogerty since I don't know any of the songs you mention, or him, but of course I am pleased for him that the 50-year battle is over!

    1. Oh I bet you do know those songs that I mentioned! They have been used in lots of films and TV shows!
And you are right, I have talked a bit about C. and his music over the years but it always is something on my mind to share with you all!

  5. How amazing, not having the rights to your own song that you wrote - and worse, having to pay to perform it. What a funny, complicated old legal world we live in. I am pretty ignorant when it comes to pop music, but I well know 'Bad Moon Rising' and 'Proud Mary' - great songs.

  6. It's always good to hear some good news. Congrats to both your son and John Fogerty. Both good musicians. It's important to be recognized for your own work. I love the church windows pictured. What a nice place it must be for finding some peace. Peace to you dear friend. Love, ma

    1. We are so lucky to live near a Monastery here in Rockdale County, Georgia. The monks built the Monastery and the church, including the stained glass windows. All so lovely and peaceful. You are the Queen of good news, my friend! Take care.

  7. You're not at all proud of your talented son, are you? I saw a headline about John Fogerty getting his music back. Copyright law and rights to music and publishing gets very confusing.

    Love,

    1. It gets very confusing to me! I am proud of C. but then, I also think he is very good, not just because he is my son. C. gets his musical talent from his father, who is also a great guitarist and songwriter, too!

Glad Fogerty has won his rights back!

    1. Hello C.G! You are correct, I AM an expert on so many! I suppose I should have also said that you have your musical gifts from your father, but we just let folks think that I am the musical one, these folks can't think your Dad is good at everything. LOL! Love you! (I am the funny one though!)

    1. Good news! It's funny you should say that. I had a whole list of bad things in the news on this post but then...I just deleted that part because it made me feel sad and no one needs to be reminded of bad! :-)

  14. Hi, Kay! I've been meaning to visit you forever, Kay. You have such a cheerful and upbeat voice. I have been so random and irregular in blogging, but I'm trying to get on top of things, again. The last couple of years have been pretty rough for me, but I'm coming out on the other side now. I'm most pleased about my eyes as my double vision has improved a lot ~ only two more infusions to go! I am tired of bad news, so it's always fun to read and listen to your posts. Christopher is fortunate to have the rights to his own music. John Fogerty must have been beyond frustrated. Have a great weekend!

    1. Louise! So nice to see your comment here! I'm glad your health is improving. I've had the hardest time blogging this year too but still try to keep blogging/slogging on!😊 Can't keep a good woman down. They can try but we positive folks keep rising above it all, it helps to live life in exclamation marks like you, my friend! Take care and stay warm in Colorado!!

  17. Christopher's songs are wonderful - he's so talented. He has inherited your love of music, for sure - and also got a cool head upon his shoulders. I am glad he made sure to secure his rights. It's such a shame about John Fogerty

    1. Our son truly is talented! I will be honest with you, he must have gotten his talents from his Dad but I hope he appreciates how much his Mom appreciates things, including music. John Fogarty felt as if the latest was a win for him regarding his songwriting so I am happy too. 😊
