Now, I am not saying that I am looking rough these days but look at what I saw looking down at me from a tall tree in my backyard!
(Some people would call this a buzzard but since you all know that I know my birds, it is a turkey vulture.) One does not always look one's best after an illness...I keep telling myself that! (I don't really speak that way, I have been watching too many British TV shows! HA!)
What are you seeing out your door or window these days? Do tell!
Our house faces east, so we sometimes have some gorgeous sunrises. This is the view from our front door!
2019...TWO OH ONE NINE...Hope it is mighty fine!
Let's have a song...
I love CCR! I knew you were going to play that song. They never had a bad song. Here is a song to welcome the new year... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoa_sa0miSQ
ReplyDeleteI found another song by The Irish Rovers, "Wasn't That A Party". That is a good one for this time of year too!
DeleteHappy New Year to you and all your family and friends! May you have a very healthy, happy, and satisfying 2019 with lots of great music in it!
ReplyDeleteHappy and healthy with lots of great music. Same is wished for you!
DeleteHappy New Year at your back door!
ReplyDeleteYou can tell I really go places, like my front and back door! LOL.
DeleteMay your 2019 be filled with contentment and good health and, of course, lots of music.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely wish. Thank you, Graham! The same is wished for you.
DeleteHappy New Year and best wishes for 2019 Kay. It must have been the Queen or The Good Life you were watching. If it was Eastenders it would be more like..." hey, are you staring at my old lady geezer! Have some of that! and that! I'll kick you down those apples and pears sharpish. I'll do a ten stretch for you so I will. Oh, and 'appy new year' Harry me best mate."
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed that Blue Peter presenters all adopt "Oh, My word", "I say, old chap." and " Good Show" and similar phrases popular 60 to 80 years ago no matter what programmes they present. Standards are everything at the BBC! 1950 is making a retro comeback apparently.
Funny story, I saw the very first episode of "Eastenders" back in 1985 with my English mother-in-law. She had a hard time understanding their accents but I didn't have any problems at all! I am missing my mother-in-law who died in March of this past year. Just yesterday, I was thinking of some of the expressions that she would say. I need to to a post about it.
DeleteHappy new year to you too and all best wishes for 2019, Bob. Many thanks for your blog and for your comments here!
Best wishes from Scotland!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you from across the pond!
DeleteHappy New Year! Love your beautiful view!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is the pier from Eastbourne in England. Richard took the photo when he was there this past year.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous view. Happy New Year, dear Kay xo
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you, Martha! All the best to you always. x
DeleteLOL....your rhythm and song made me laugh. The bird is huge! The sunrise/set is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe tree is so tall that we really didn't know what kind of bird it was until Richard snapped that photo and then, zoomed in and we saw that it was a bird of prey! Richard also took the sunrise photo. He is the great photographer!
DeleteHappy new year, Sandy!
May 2019 be a wonderful year for you and your family, Kay! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! The very same is wished for you!
DeleteHappy New Year
ReplyDeleteCathy
Happy New Year, Kay! Hope your 2019 is full of wonderful walks and hikes and birds and creatures and songs and health and happiness!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kay! You know the things that I like! Happy new year to you with lots of good reading!
DeleteWishing you health and happiness in 2019, dear Kay'
ReplyDeleteAs for what I see from my windows, you already know that :-)
Yes! I do adore the views from your window! Health and happiness to you, Meike and to all your loved ones. Thinking of your dear Dad, wishing best health for him. xx
DeleteThere are no vultures in Hawaii. HAPPY NEW YEAR from us in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteNo vultures in Hawaii? How lucky you and David are in live in such a beautiful part of the world! And I thank you for sharing it with me. Aloha!
DeleteHappy New Year! We have turkey vultures here too and sometimes they hit windshields! (not mine, but a friends) When I look out my back door I see the creepy woods in the distance. That's our east facing side but we have too many trees that block a good sunrise. I hope you're feeling much better these days so those vultures stay put!! Happy New year to you and your family! All the best in 2019.
ReplyDeleteWe also have tall trees out back that blocks any of the sunsets but out front, the sunrises make up for it!
DeleteAll the best to you too in 2019!
When one looks out of one's back door, one sees birds feeding on one's lawn. The rear of one's house faces westward to sunsets that are partly hidden by houses on the rising slope behind one's own residence. One may also see neighbourhood cats, the occasional urban fox, a badger and once one saw a hedgehog tiptoeing across newly fallen snow. One wishes one a Happy New Year! God Save The Queen!
ReplyDeleteHey YP! (Not sure who calls you that but I am going to copy him/her!) Nice to see your comment here!
DeleteOne is lucky to have one's blog read by such a learned man from Yorkshire. Thanks for telling me what you see from your backdoor! Happy New Year!
Love that gorgeous sunrise shot (all orange and yellow.) I have many like that, too, from the Appalachians! Happy New Year! lg
ReplyDeleteThank you! And happy new year to you too, you must not be that far from me!
DeleteThe same to you!
ReplyDeleteI often see a family of hares hopping about...and lots of birds, of course.
ReplyDeleteWish I could visit with you and see those hares and birds myself! Lovely spot of the world where you are, thanks for sharing it with me. x
DeleteI wish you and your family all the very best 2019 has to offer, Kay. And I hope you are feeling completely well again...100%! Take good care. :)
ReplyDeleteI am not 100 percent but I am thankful for whatever percentage that I have! Take care of yourself too.
