Our Son, The Writer
Hey! You know you all want to read about the Atlanta Hawks! Our son is writing for "Soaring Down South", the blog about the basketball team here in Atlanta. You may read his piece just here!
What? You don't care much for sports? You might like it anyway. I always say if something is well written, it is always worth reading.
Perhaps beer drinking is more of your style? If so, I have you covered on that one too. C. has also written for The Beer Connoisseur Magazine. You may read the article that he wrote about The String Cheese Band and their brewery just here.
Christopher will have a birthday at the end of this month so for me, November is a time of not just Thanksgiving and the beautiful autumn leaves but for celebration of a very special loved one. His birthday is sometimes on Thanksgiving day or very close to it.
Read this post from Dennis- Let's All Be Thanksgiving Babies.
C. With His Papa- Christmas 2008
I'm not a basketball fan, but as you said, good writing is good writing. I enjoyed reading his piece, he actually helped me visualize the game.
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice of you to say so! I know he will be very pleased to read your comment, so I will say thank you on his behalf!
DeleteI recognize a proud mother when I see one. And you have every right to be. I knew he was writing about beer but I did not know he was also a sports writer. Way to diversify.
ReplyDeleteThis is very new, the pieces that he has written about basketball, and that is why I wanted to share it on my blog!
DeleteYou have every right to be proud, Kay.
ReplyDeleteI want all Georgia sports to win but I'm a big baseball fan.
I'll go over now and read his piece.
Oh yes, we are big baseball fans too. C. will often buy me books about baseball! Hope you like what he has written. x
DeleteYour son is a talented writer! I wonder from whom he gets this? Perhaps two parents who were pen pals for years? A mother who writes a wonderful blog? Great articles. And I like your comment on Denis's post.
ReplyDeleteKristi, you are so sweet! C. is his own man, he is very talented but if I have to guess, I would say he gets his "smarts" from his Dad. (Just being real!)
DeleteAnd thanks for also reading the post by Denis! I wonder how many have left comments on that dear pastor's blog about childbirth? I bet I am the only one! LOL!
Great articles! You're son is a talented writer. Being a fan of craft beers, I particularly enjoyed reading about the melding of music and beer. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ed! I am so happy that your enjoyed his article on there, if you search the site, you should see more that he wrote for them.
DeleteAnd rightly proud of your son. Christopher you are!
ReplyDeleteTwo terrific articles written by Chris. He captures the mood in both.
Thanks for sharing, Kay. :)
Thank you, Lee for your kind comment!
DeleteHow great to have a writer in the family. I love that picture of him and his grandfather! Hope it's a wonderful Thanksgiving for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteThanks, MA! He has always been a lover of words. We spent a lot of his childhood in libraries and bookstores!
DeleteHope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your dear family. x
Your son is an excellent writer, and we have two birthdays around Thanksgiving in our family, and sometimes even on that day. It is great to be able to celebrate extra and over and above the holiday.
ReplyDeleteTHanks, Mimi! And Happy THanksgiving and happy birthdayS!
DeleteI hope he eventually earns a living from it or gets some reward, which is always nice. Happy Birthday and T.G. when it comes.
ReplyDeleteHe earned money on the beer magazine job, but for now, the basketball one is just to get his name out there. He was excited recently when the Atlanta Hawks had a link to his article on their website. Fingers crossed, he will become more successful! T.G. That is funny to me, never once have I seen it brought into just two letters before! :-)
DeleteAwww...I love that last photo, Kay! It is such a sweet memory maker. My son's birthday often falls on Thanksgiving (23rd) and it does this year. I love when that happens. (I only have to cook one big meal that week)...lol xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your little turkey too! (Or big one now, am I right?)
DeleteHope you will have a wonderful time with all your gorgeous family!
Congrats to Christopher! Beer, now basketball? What will he be writing next? I bet it will start with B.
ReplyDeleteHa! Yes! It will have to be BASEBALL!
DeleteYou are so funny!
Your son does you proud.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
He has always been such a sweet guy. I just wish that he would own his talents more and use them! (He still writes music too!)
DeleteI echo Kristi's comment! Don't have the time right now to pop over to the basketball blog or the beer magazine (I seem to remember you told us about Christopher's involvement with the magazine before), but I fully agree that good writing is worth reading, no matter the subject!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I have told you about this writing for the beer magazine but this is brand new, the writing that he does for the basketball blog. The magazine was a paid job but the blog is something that he does in order to get his name out there. Wish him luck! (I know you do!) x
DeleteHow nice - I'd be proud, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn! You are here in Georgia, so keep an eye out for his writing! :-)
DeleteThanks for the post, Mom! And ditto for all the sweet comments. It's been very enjoyable to write about something I've become very interested in. Now, if only the Hawks could improve on that 2-9 record...
ReplyDeleteHello my Thanksgiving Baby!
DeleteSo happy you saw this and could also see the nice comments from all these sweet and very intelligent people.
Now, I predict that the Hawks will start a winning streak, there, you know I am psychic so see if I am right!
Love you son, keep writing...words AND music! xx
It is true, what you say; you must be REALLY proud!
ReplyDeletePS I had a feeling you were a psychic...
ReplyDeleteYou must be psychic too! I have heard others whisper this about me but it could be that they were saying that I was PSYCHO! :-)
DeleteI enjoyed reading Christopher's articles so much ~ Thanks for sharing them! Terry and I are each having cataract surgery on the Monday before Thanksgiving. It will be a restaurant celebration with good friends this year! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Louise!
DeleteBOTH of you are having cataract surgery? Can't one of you do something without the other one doing the same thing? LOL!
Kidding aside, hope all goes well with the surgeries. xx
