Hello! You all might remember the actress/comedienne Dawn French from the TV show "The Vicar of Dibley". (It was very funny!) In England, she was well known before that from her work with Jennifer Saunders. (Just read that they will reunite for a show at Christmas! They have such special TV shows at Christmas in England, we never get to see them in the USA, I only read about them!)
Anyway, she is very funny and what I really wanted to tell you is that Dawn French just celebrated her 60th birthday in September.
I loved what she had to say about turning 60 and I wanted to share it here with you! Click on her name at the beginning of the post. Hope you can see and hear it!
Don't you wish you could be walking on this pier in Eastbourne in England?
You know I do!
(The owner of the pier has this lion painted in bright gold. I preferred it like this, don't you?)
My friends, I hope you are all doing well and finding something to make you laugh or smile! Just recently, one of my blogging friends said in a comment to me that I always make him smile.
Thank YOU, Graham! You always make MY Day!
As do you all who read my blog and leave me comments. Thank you, one and all. Y'all are just the best.
Dawn French is great. I enjoyed that little interview and her sensible thoughts. She was recently in Australia and it was fun to see her in interviews. Very funny, but also thoughtful and intelligent.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful and intelligent, just like us! Well, like you anyway, LOL!
DeleteMy sister introduced me to French & Saunders back in the 1990s, I think. I still love both of them, they are clever, funny, strong women who are not afraid of taking the mickey out of themselves - and everyone else :-)
ReplyDeleteJennifer Saunders is married to Adrian Edmondson, whom I really like, too; last but not least because he is a Yorkshire lad like my Steve was, and has a very similar sense of humour.
I just looked him up and I can't say that I remember him but I do remember The Young Ones!
DeleteIf you recommend a comedy show or routine, i know it will be good!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Look out for anything that she is in!
DeleteI have watched the Vicar of Dibly and enjoyed it thoroughly. Now I'm off to read what Ms.French had to say. Hope you are enjoying some cooler weather. We are very cold here and will only get colder in the months ahead.
ReplyDeleteIt is really nice here at the moment. Our leaf color is not as spectacular as in years past but still nice though. x
DeleteThanks for the Dawn French video! I enjoyed it -- I'm a fan too!
ReplyDeleteOh good! Glad I was able to show this to you then!
DeleteSad to say. I have never even heard of Dawn French before this. I never watched the Vicar of Dibly either. I think I need to look that up on my Roku and see if I can find some of the previous episodes. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou would like The Vicar of Dibley, I am sure! All of the characters were very funny!
DeleteShe makes a lot of sense. I wish we could see her in the USA. I prefer the lion unpainted.
ReplyDeleteWish we could get more British shows!
DeleteHappy you agree with me about the unpainted lion. Now, if only we could get the owner of the pier to agree with us...
Hi, Kay! I enjoyed the Dawn French video a lot. I haven't heard of her ~ that I remember anyway. Like her, I am grateful to reach my sixties. I've lost several close friends too young, and I'm happy to be here and functioning. I've made peace with the way I look ~ mostly. I'm really focusing on being gentle and forgiving with myself. So I would say that Dawn and I are simpatico in our thinking on a number of things. I hope you are doing well, too, my friend! Sending you hugs!
ReplyDeleteThis is also my 60th year and like you, I am grateful to be here, many of my classmates didn't make it to this decade.
DeleteGlad you liked the video! Sending you hugs and best wishes. Stay warm in Colorado! xx
She's slimmed down a lot as well and looks ten years younger. You might like 'Back in Time for Dinner' and Back in time for the Weekend' on You Tube Kay as that should be right up your street. A run through previous decades in England from the 1950s to the 2000s. Excellent BBC programmes with free episodes... including Christmas traditions. Christmas Eastenders is just the usual moans, snarls, fights and squabbles with tinsel and fruit pudding on top so your not missing much there :o)
ReplyDeleteI used to watch EastEnders, but hey, the plotlines became so sordid, especially at Christmas, who want to see murder at the holidays? Not me!
DeleteI saw Dawn French had lost weight and her official portrait at 60 was stunning! Thanks for telling me of the videos, I will check it out! You do know me, Bob! :-)
Loved that, Kay! Dawn French is fab. Unfortunately, having been on a parish council in a small village - well, you know what I'm going to say, don't you? Aaargh!!
ReplyDeleteI guess a small village is similar to small towns in Georgia, not easy to make everyone happy!
Delete"Absolutely Fabulous" was absolutely fabulous...and the Vicar was a hoot! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Vicar of Dibley. I think I read somewhere that Dawn French had a bit of jealously over Jennifer Saunders' great success in Absolutely Fabulous but that she got over it!
DeleteI am watching the Vicar of Dibley series starring Dawn French and love it, it is on AcornTV or Britbox in the USA. I am almost at the end of the series, it is funny and charming.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny? I hope you get to see the Christmas one!
