The Last Detective (Sean Hughes, Rest In Peace)

I watch every single British TV show that I can.  "The Last Detective" starred Peter Davison as "Dangerous" Davies  and  his sidekick, Mod Lewis was played by Sean Hughes, a former stand- up comedian.
Sean Hughes died today.  He was only 51 years old.

The show was very funny but also low key and subtle.  Keep an  eye out for it, if they repeat it here or you could buy the DVD set of the episodes.  You will see how funny those two men are together on The Last Detective.

  5. Never watched that but long running music show 'Never mind the Buzzcocks' was a firm favourite. Would definitely watch that again with S. H. as team captain if they repeated it on Dave (a repeat channel here) as I'm well sick of Top Gear re-runs I've seen several times over. NMTB was really funny.

We have a BBC America channel but I hardly ever watch it, it is mostly Top Gear!

  6. Very sad -- 51 is much, much too young.

I'm not familiar with this show, but I enjoyed the clip.

    "What does he do?"
    "He comes from Preston."

    Hahahahahaha!

"He comes from Preston". So Funny!! It would not have been funny if not for the lady's PERFECT timing!

    1. I didn't say but I really like Peter Davison, I might have written about him in a post before...hmm, I might have to do a search on my blog to see if I have! LOL.
Anyway, I thought the two, Peter Davison and Sean Hughes were very funny together.

    1. I am glad you liked the show too, not sure if all Americans would like it, everything has to be so over the top now or else dripping in blood with Zombies for most folks!

  9. Thanks for the notice. I hadn't heard. I so liked him as that character. I would have liked to see him in more shows. There's a nice piece in The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2017/oct/16/sean-hughes-comedian-dies-aged-51

  12. I heard about Sean Hughes. 51 years old is way too young no matter how you look at it.

    1. I agree and it is even sadder when is someone who makes people laugh, who brings joy into the world.

  13. I also enjoy watching British police shows and have been avidly enjoying many on Acorn TV streaming. I never watched the program you mentioned, but if I do see any back episodes available, will check them out. Thanks, Kay for the recommendation and so sorry to hear about Mr. Hughes untimely passing.
