"With A Little Help From My Friends" is a Lennon/McCartney song from the album "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band". It was written with the idea of Ringo Starr singing the lead. You must know that I love this song and Ringo singing it but I also love the version of it by Joe Cocker. I heard this song on a Walmart TV ad tonight ...and it sounded so good! There is so much bad music these days, it was wonderful to hear this song!
Ringo, if you happen to be reading this blog, you may certainly sing it to me anytime! You know I love you!
A dear friend called me this week to wish me a happy birthday and also to let me speak with another one of our friends who was visiting for Easter weekend. Dusty and Deb, it was wonderful to speak with you both!
"I get by with a little help from my friends", you must also agree with the truth of those words!
Hey, you know I have to have Ringo on here singing the song too!
The apostle plant or walking iris bloomed in time for my birthday! It smells good too!
Dear Kay,
ReplyDeleteYou look great in that picture, so radiant!!
Sorry to see you have the same nasty spam comment here that appeared on my blog (and no doubt on many others) a year or so ago. Just delete it, it is really not worth reading, let alone replying to.
I like the song, too! And hey, wouldn't it be great if Ringo really read your blog?
Yes, this poor soul has left the same comment before. It makes me laugh but I don't think that is the response he wants!
DeleteRingo, read this and leave a comment! You know you want to!
Ah the subtle manner in which you inform us it's your 23rd birthday has not been missed!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birfday to you!
My 23rd? Oh yeah, that is the right year, of course!
DeleteAnd thanks!
Oh I love it when you do Beatle stuff - takes me right back, it does :) Great photo of you there, very glam, and you match that pretty iris.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the Beatles too! And thanks, no one has ever called me glam before!
DeleteI really did get by with a little help from my friends. I still do. I don't even know where I'd be without them.
ReplyDeleteI know, I very much agree!
DeleteI doubt there will be much, if any of the present day music that will last as long as the music of the 60s, 70s and prior to those decades. I'm not sure what day the music died...but I think it has. I prefer to hold onto the great music of those eras. There's nothing around at present that matches it...in my humble opinion, anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat has become mainstream and popular in music depresses me. Melody seems to have gone out the window. Maybe it will make a comeback one day, I hope so.
DeleteI am someone else who loves this song! So glad to see you looking so happy!(Not that I ever see you any other way.)And that apostle plant. I think it's the most exotic house plant and very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh me, that was the last photo that I had taken with Dusty, so I didn't tell you, but it is from a few years ago, two or three, I am not sure. Sad to say, I look more stressed out than that these days!
DeleteI have had the apostle plant on here before, you might have been the one who identified it for me, honestly, I can't remember much these days. It is a gorgeous plant and the bloom really is pretty.
I like Joe Cocker's version too.
ReplyDeleteI know, it is more bluesy, isn't it? It was so NICE to hear it on that Wal-Mart advert!!
DeleteNice song. I like modern music as well :o)
ReplyDeleteI am PREPARED to like all music but alas, so much of it is disappointing, there is no SOUL to it, no feeling!
DeleteOh- I loved that song...Joe Cocker's version, too!!!! That is a GREAT picture. Happy Spring day to you- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThat photo was taken at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Dusty was going to perform there that night! I was excited to be there, I don't get out much!
DeleteHappy Spring to you! xx
Get By With A little Help From My Friends goes so well with All You Need Is Love. They give us spiritual strength.
ReplyDeleteLast April, my niece got married, and my son and I nudged each other, when they played "All You Need Is Love". How perfect for a wedding!
DeleteWhat, indeed, would we do without our friends? That's not something i want to think about.
ReplyDeleteAnd I count my friends in my blogging world too, like you, my friend! :-)
DeleteHappy birthday to you!!! I think the reason Wallyworld can use the song in an ad is because Michael Jackson the Beatles' songs. I'm hoping that 'our Pauly' can get them back. http://www.thefader.com/2017/01/18/paul-mccartney-lawsuit-sony-michael-jackson
ReplyDeletethe word 'bought' should be after Michael Jackson.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the songs are now owned by Sony and it is that company which our PAULY will sue to get them back. If he does, I don't mind if they are used in TV ads, we all need to hear good music! I just hope they will be in good taste, I still cringe when I think of "I Feel Good" used in a laxative commercial!
DeleteHappy Happy Birthday to you!! We both have April birthdays! I thought about you this week because my sister and her friend visited and we all went to the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Harlem :-) It is a fun place to visit and the docent was fantastic. Please come east and we will go there! Jackie
ReplyDeleteHello Fellow April Birthday GAL! YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY< IT"S MY BIRTHDAY TOO> YEAH!!
DeleteHa! Another Beatles song for you!
I really do want to visit the Laurel and Hardy Museum!
If I ever get myself down I-20 East, I will let you know, it would be fun to meet up!
Have a happy April birthday!!
