Adele and Sam Cooke With Flowers

Adele won five grammys on Sunday night. She deserves them! I think she's great and here's the thing...I rarely listen to women singers but I really like her!   I found a video of her singing a Sam Cooke song from years ago.  Her voice is amazing but I think that she sings with more confidence now. Hope you like this too. (February 14, 1961 was the release date for Sam Cooke's song, "That's It, I'm Moving On.". Wow, 56 years ago now.)

Many are celebrating Valentine's Day so you may think I would have Sam Cooke's "Cupid" song on here!  Okay then let's have that one too!

Giving all of you some flowers to view, hope you like them...

Fuchsias from England, the colors look very much like the colors used for hearts in February!
This makes me GLAD when I see a gladiolus blooming in my own yard!

Music and flowers, what could be better?

  1. Adele and Sam Cooke make it seem that singing is effortless. Their voices are superior to almost all others. I enjoyed hearing her sing the Sam Cooke song. I'm saving it for my own collection.

    1. It was interesting to hear Adele sing this, wasn't it? Glad I found it, I liked the radio announcer at the beginning too, I think he was French, love that language.

  2. Adele has a great voice and is unique in her songwriting and singing style, too, I think. I also like it very much that she does NOT conform to the mass-media created beauty "ideal" of super-skinny women with silikon-enhanced breasts and lips.

At the end of your post, you say "Music and flowers, what could be better?" - add chocolate to the mix, and the man you love by your side, and life can't get any better :-)

    1. I think Adele is the real thing! :-) The ONLY think I liked about the James Bond film "Skyfall" was the song that Adele wrote for it! Like Sam Cooke, a great singer makes you forget they are songwriters too.
Happy to know you have a great man by your side AND great chocolate too! xx

  5. Didn't know "That's It, I'm Moving On" - need to check my Sam Cooke Greatest Hits CD - but it's great and Adele delivers it beautifully. "Cupid" is, of course, a classic - listening as I type! Adele is so talented - and so young! Love her songs, her voice, her humour, her humility - just wish she could control her language rather better; it's immature and unnecessary. Have a great Valentine's Day, Kay - thanks for the great links.

    1. Oh, I know, it makes me giggle some of the things that she says, but honestly, I like her so much, I forgive her! Hope you have a great Valentine's Day too, Mike! :-)

  9. I also love Adele's naturalness. She just seems like the real deal to me. And I love how she looks and dresses. Did you hear her thank you on the Grammys? What she said to all the people who worked on the record? And all those things she said about Beyonce, I expect a lot of women feel about her.

    1. I didn't see the Grammys but I did see her speech addressing Beyonce, I thought it was sweet and sincere. And I too love her style! :-)

  12. I prefer Adele to Beyonce...in every way. She's down to earth...no bells and whistles needed for her.

I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day! I hope you have a lovely day every day! :)

    1. Reading my comment above, I meant it was Adele who I admire. I appreciate that she likes Beyoncé but the Queen Bee, as people like to call her, is a bit OTT for me! (And I know you say OTT in Australia like they do in England!)
Hope you had a lovely V. Day too! :-)

    1. The color of the fuchsias stopped me in my tracks, they were overhanging the pavement in England where we were walking. I hope the owners don't mind that I asked Richard to snap a photo!
