Adele won five grammys on Sunday night. She deserves them! I think she's great and here's the thing...I rarely listen to women singers but I really like her! I found a video of her singing a Sam Cooke song from years ago. Her voice is amazing but I think that she sings with more confidence now. Hope you like this too. (February 14, 1961 was the release date for Sam Cooke's song, "That's It, I'm Moving On.". Wow, 56 years ago now.)
Many are celebrating Valentine's Day so you may think I would have Sam Cooke's "Cupid" song on here! Okay then let's have that one too!
Giving all of you some flowers to view, hope you like them...
This makes me GLAD when I see a gladiolus blooming in my own yard!
Music and flowers, what could be better?
Adele and Sam Cooke make it seem that singing is effortless. Their voices are superior to almost all others. I enjoyed hearing her sing the Sam Cooke song. I'm saving it for my own collection.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to hear Adele sing this, wasn't it? Glad I found it, I liked the radio announcer at the beginning too, I think he was French, love that language.
DeleteAdele has a great voice and is unique in her songwriting and singing style, too, I think. I also like it very much that she does NOT conform to the mass-media created beauty "ideal" of super-skinny women with silikon-enhanced breasts and lips.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of your post, you say "Music and flowers, what could be better?" - add chocolate to the mix, and the man you love by your side, and life can't get any better :-)
I think Adele is the real thing! :-) The ONLY think I liked about the James Bond film "Skyfall" was the song that Adele wrote for it! Like Sam Cooke, a great singer makes you forget they are songwriters too.
DeleteHappy to know you have a great man by your side AND great chocolate too! xx
Wow, it's been a long time since I heard that Cupid song - but remember all the words :) Happy Valentine's Day Kay!
ReplyDeleteI love the little sound like an arrow being shot, so perfect! Happy Valentine's to you too! xx
DeleteSuch gorgeous flowers!! And loved the songs! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteHey Kay! So happy to see your comment here, my fellow Kay! xx
DeleteDidn't know "That's It, I'm Moving On" - need to check my Sam Cooke Greatest Hits CD - but it's great and Adele delivers it beautifully. "Cupid" is, of course, a classic - listening as I type! Adele is so talented - and so young! Love her songs, her voice, her humour, her humility - just wish she could control her language rather better; it's immature and unnecessary. Have a great Valentine's Day, Kay - thanks for the great links.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know, it makes me giggle some of the things that she says, but honestly, I like her so much, I forgive her! Hope you have a great Valentine's Day too, Mike! :-)
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteSame to you, my Louisiana friend! x
DeleteHave a wonderful heart-filled day!
ReplyDeleteHey Debra, same to you! Hope you have had a good one!
DeleteHappy Valentines Day !
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hope is was full of love for you! x
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day! Enjoyed the songs.
ReplyDeleteHey, Sylvia! I wish you the best today and always! xx
DeleteI also love Adele's naturalness. She just seems like the real deal to me. And I love how she looks and dresses. Did you hear her thank you on the Grammys? What she said to all the people who worked on the record? And all those things she said about Beyonce, I expect a lot of women feel about her.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the Grammys but I did see her speech addressing Beyonce, I thought it was sweet and sincere. And I too love her style! :-)
DeleteI'm not a big fan of female singers either, but I do like Adele.
ReplyDeleteFunny isn't it? Not sure why I don't like many female singers, but there you are! :-)
DeleteSo lovely to see beautiful flowers blooming!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers here are from England, including my header photo just now, except for the glad, that is in my yard in Conyers, Georgia from last May! xx
DeleteI prefer Adele to Beyonce...in every way. She's down to earth...no bells and whistles needed for her.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day! I hope you have a lovely day every day! :)
Reading my comment above, I meant it was Adele who I admire. I appreciate that she likes Beyoncé but the Queen Bee, as people like to call her, is a bit OTT for me! (And I know you say OTT in Australia like they do in England!)
DeleteHope you had a lovely V. Day too! :-)
Those fuchsias are gorgeous. I agree about Adele too. Any accolades she receives are well-deserved, and she has an incredible voice.
ReplyDeleteThe color of the fuchsias stopped me in my tracks, they were overhanging the pavement in England where we were walking. I hope the owners don't mind that I asked Richard to snap a photo!
DeleteArent gladioli beautiful? So many colours and varieties.
ReplyDeleteYes, and if you know the poor clay that my front yard consists of, you would admire this little glad all the more!
DeleteI like Adele's voice. Your flowers are beautiful. Hope you are doing well. Enjoy the weekend, xoxo, Bless you, Susie
ReplyDeleteHello! Lovely to see your sweet comment here. My job is driving me crazy but thank goodness for the kind words from my blogging friends. Makes all the difference. Hope you have a great weekend too!
