Would you like to hear what Queen Elizabeth had to say about inspiration in her Christmas message this year? I have her speech here for you!
Let's hear it for "small acts of goodness" and Queen Elizabeth!
God save the Queen!
How are you all doing these days? Trying to get your ducks in a row, like me? Good luck with that!
My ducks are most unruly. I am not sure they would know a row if they saw one and they certainly wouldn't stay in the row if I happened to get lucky enough to get them in one in the first place.
ReplyDeleteHa! You must be like me then! :-)
DeleteOrdinary people doing extraordinary things, yes!
ReplyDeleteOne of my uncles in Yorkshire was given a medal of honour by the Queen some years ago for his relentless voluntary work with and for disadvantaged children. He showed us a video of that day and says the moment when the Queen shook his hand and talked to him was one of the proudest of his life.
How wonderful that your kind uncle in Yorkshire does such good work and has been recognized by the Queen!
DeleteI always love to watch the Queen's message but the one this year, showing the celebration of her 90th birthday and all those volunteers honored, this is a special one.
Thank you Kay. My brother had mentioned that he had seen it and that he was glad that he had. Thanks to you I have now seen it too. Her words certainly remind one that there is more good around than one might sometimes think.
ReplyDeleteThanks to YouTube, you can almost always find something if you miss it! Glad I reminded you about it!
DeleteAs you know, the Queen was not well, and you can tell it from her voice, and it should make us grateful for her!
(I know I am only an American and not a British subject but I still think she's great!)
My dd Emily, my younger daughter, heard this in England, quite by chance one year. Because of terrible weather flights were cancelled from Heathrow and she was put up at a nearby hotel. While watching tv, suddenly she heard, "The Queen" and her message followed. We're all rather Anglophiles here, so she was thrilled. She and her family are all coming over for dinner this evening but after that, for New Year's, I am neither going anywhere nor entertaining anyone.
ReplyDeleteYou can listen to the Queen's message every year! Someone always puts it on YouTube very quickly and you can bet I am one of the first to search for it!
DeleteWhen I say my ducks in a row, I just mean trying to get things done...I only had last weekend off for Christmas, I have worked every day this past week!
New Year's Eve will be quiet at my house, just as well, my crazy neighbors will be going nuts with the fireworks! Happy New Year! (but in a quiet way!)
Given the stories about her health I'm glad Her Royal Highness felt up to doing her usual Christmas message. Here's hoping she turns it around and becomes as healthy as she's always been once again.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you know the Queen was going to have her Christmas message no matter what! You could tell by her voice she was not well. I hope the Queen is returned to her usual healthy self and I wish her and YOU a happy 2017!
DeleteThanks, Mark, very much for your comments on my blog, much appreciated! :-)
Lining up ducks, herding cats, it's all about the same, and it does not work!
ReplyDeleteI know cats and I must say, cats are...in a special category all alone!
DeleteIt matters not if one is a Monarchist or a Republican....the Queen is one hell of a lady, that's for sure...and one who has been dedicated to her role from when it was thrust upon her when she was so young, at only 25 years of age. Not many could have done what she has done, with dignity, through the years.
ReplyDeleteI have great respect for the Queen. She can pop round my house anytime for a cuppa!
DeleteHappy New Year!
Happy new year, Kay. Aloha from Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to have your aloha from Hawaii!!
DeleteHappy new year to you too!
Blessings on you!
She is a real trouper, isn't she! All the best to you for 2017, Kay.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, Queen Elizabeth is amazing!
DeleteAll the best to you, Jenny Woolf, have a very happy 2017!
