Hello, my friends! What have y'all been up to lately? I have been busy and a bit under the weather ...but hey, I can't complain!
For those who have a blog, if you look at "Stats" - at the very bottom, you can see the word "Audience"...if you click on there you can see the countries that visit your blog! (I only say this to you because I mentioned this to another blogger and she had never noticed it.)
You can guess that the USA would be the country that visits my blog the most, but what do you think is the second country that is listed? England? No, that is very often third or fourth on the list....the country that visits me after America is...wait for it...FRANCE! Ah, c'est vrai! Can anyone tell me why that is?
Very often, the French visitors to my blog outnumber the American visitors by 2 to 1! Okay, France, if you love me so much, how about someone from there leaving a comment? Pretty please?
Merci! ( I really need to do my post about my love for France.)
Okay, fellow bloggers, now look at your "Audience" and let me know. And may I just say, even if I only have a few visitors from a country, I truly appreciate each and every one! You know I do! (One certain blogger from Germany CONVINCED me to start this blog!)
Today is the last day of April, so I decided to turn it up to eleven!
I usually do ten posts a month but by doing this one, it makes it eleven. (And if you know about the movie, "This Is Spinal Tap", you will know why I am saying "turn it up to 11"!) NOTE- just noticed it is really 12 posts for me. never mind, I can't count, I guess! HA HA!
Hope all of you are turning it up to eleven these days and enjoying
life wherever you are...USA, France, United States, Poland, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Ukraine, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Israel, Africa, India...anywhere! (This is a list of the countries who visited me this week, in order of the most to the least!)
I have never been to France but when I am on the southeast coast of England, I am close! In the photo below, you can see the French flag displayed on the seafront, this is an International Market that they have there on the weekends with foods from different countries.
BONJOUR!
Kay, This is so funny. I sure never knew about this. I will try to find this "audience " you have mentioned. Blessings for a fun weekend. It's chilly here. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it for the longest time but now, I like to look at it and see the countries who have visited!
DeleteWe have had great weather until the weekend, and now, you have to worry about rain and high winds! Oh Well! Take care! xx
I'm not sure it is 'real' people in those stats. My top three are US, UK, Russia. I don't know what it is called but there are things that just go searching. Searching for what, I sure don't know. ;<)
ReplyDeleteThey are bots, Nan. (Short for "robots"; smart bits of software that automatically search for and visit pages on the internet, according to the parameters with which they are programmed. For instance, a key word they are looking for could be "fashion", and so they visit people's fashion blogs. Or "money", and they look for that keyword. When other parameters are met, such as a certain number of page views or matching certain other keywords, they will even automatically leave a comment, for instance linking to a more than dubious page that offers insurance.)
DeleteOkay then, why would the bots from France be so interested in my blog? It is puzzling to me. I know sometimes I will get comments that are bit creepy...I had one from a retirement home on the post about my Dad! I deleted it! (It was American.) Surely, some of those from France must be real people, hopefully? :-)
DeleteMost will be 'Bots' I'm afraid.
DeleteSome will be folks using the 'Next Blog' button and passing through.
But let's face it you are so popular everyone wants to be here.
I didn't know this, you're always teaching me something new Kay.
ReplyDeleteOh good, I'm glad! Look it up and let me know!
DeleteHmmm. Darned if I can see that button. I use a service called Stat Counter , I used to be fascinated by where visitors came from. And I got quite excited when I saw a government department in Australia had visited after I posted about a crocodile. I wonder why my visits weren't captured by your counter? I probably route via Australia. I'm not so fascinated by traffic these days.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see New Zealand on the day I wrote this post but it is one of that I often see on other days!
Delete(Oh dear, I have a kind of thing for New Zealand too, don't you know!)
I love the whole world really, so I tend to look at my Stats page!
My visitors are not nearly as many as yours, so i never bother to look at my stats.
ReplyDeleteMy numbers were never that high until I did my posts about Mr. Zamperini and The Monastery, they were very much visited.
DeleteMy stats show that my biggest audience is the US, followed in second place by my home country, the Land of Oz. I've only eight readers from France, two ahead of the six in China! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting! You should have many followers from many countries, you are a great writer and so funny too!
DeleteWhat I really enjoy is comments from people from other countries. I have learned so much about so many people and places since beginning my blog. The cyber world is a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd really, we are all just people in the world, are we not? Apparently not, there are BOTS that mess me up!
DeleteThe countries that visited me today are: USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, FRANCE, INDIA, BRAZIL, UNITED KINGDOM, IRELAND, BELGIUM.
ReplyDeleteOh! Canada visits me too, but I just looked up and I see I left them off my list. Oh dear, good thing my Canadian friends are so sweet, they won't be mad at me, I hope!
DeleteI look at my blog stats only occasionally, and your post was just such an occasion :-)
ReplyDeleteToday it says that I have 841 posts and 116 followers (I knew this already), there were 25 page views so far today, and 11115 comments altogether since I first started my blog!
Pageviews all summed up have been just above 241.000 so far. My readers come mostly from the US, Germany, Russia (those will nearly all be bots, I suspect), the UK, Japan, Brazil, Ukraine (more bots), Canada, France and Ireland.
It is also interesting to see what operating systems and devices people (and bots) use when visiting my blog, and which posts are most viewed.
I must admit that I do look at my Stats page, I find it interesting to see which countries are listed!
Deletehum, didn't know that may check it out....interesting.
ReplyDeleteYes, make sure to look at it!
DeleteThat is a strange one especially since they don't leave comments either. Most of mine come from the US. It's fun to check it out now and then. Hope your Sunday is a wonderful one !
ReplyDeleteOh well, apparently it is all BOTS and not real people. And here I was thinking that France loved me! :-)
DeleteA Good Year is, for me, one of the best feel-good factor movies there is. As for the stats I've never bothered looking before. Trying to make sense of them isn't easy. One of my recent posts apparently had only 6 pageviews (time period not specified) although there were 24 comments. Prime facie that dosen't make any sense to me.
ReplyDeleteOH I loved that movie too! I have hardly anyone ever even mention it! You have such good taste, Graham!
DeleteI do expect things to be logical and hardly anything ever is.
I haven't looked at stats in a long time - thanks for the reminder. The majority of my readers are from the US - with Russia and Japan coming in next. Hmmmm. Interesting that so many of my commenters are from countries other than those.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to me, a great many of my commenters are from other countries! YOU are the one that is closer to me than any one else!
DeleteThe French Secret Service were checking you out.
ReplyDeleteThey must have heard me say how much I love France and the French language. They must be investigating me!
DeleteI'm slightly surprised by that with France when you are not putting up French material online. I'm mainly UK and American hits for positions one and two but I did get Easter Island once, which I was chuffed at and several page views from tiny places in the middle of the Pacific that I'd never even heard of, also remote island groups like Pitcairn, St Helena, the Galapagos etc. When you blow up the world map of red dots the remote islands really stand out as single dots in the middle of a vast ocean and you can say "Ah, that's where you are."
ReplyDeleteIt's a good geography lesson as I look them up in my online atlas later to learn more about the places I don't recognize.
I enjoy getting occasional page views from Oceania as it's so exotic and cool and even the name conjures up images of white coral beaches and palm trees.
It's funny to see the map on my Stats Page and FRANCE is a bright red on there!
DeleteAnd shame on you, now you are making ME think of white coral beaches and palm trees!
USA, UK, Germany, Russia, Ukraine (in all of which I have friends) nd then Japan which rather surprised me because I have no acquaintances there and neve get comments from there. Then Australia, France, China, brazil...
ReplyDeleteWhy John, YOU should have comments from every country in the world! Thought of you recently when we saw a newly emerged butterfly and you first identified a butterfly for me! :-)
DeleteHow kind you are, Kay. We are into May and it was only the day before yesterday that we saw our first butterfly; that is how cold it has been here.
DeleteI plan on going to panola mountain on Saturday to help plant milkweed. This is to help the monarch. Look out for my post about it!
DeleteI like to have a look at those stats every now and again because it can be pretty fun. Of course most of my readers are from the US but there are a few surprises in there from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI know and I like being surprised, but only when it is a pleasant surprise!
DeleteI don't think that I have ever looked at this! I am intrigued now so I will go and have a look. Vive La France!
ReplyDeleteOh Amy! I am glad to tell you this! You will have people come to you from all over, I am sure!
DeleteHello Kay from another Kay!
ReplyDeleteThis is a late comment because I've just found your lovely blog. I live in the UK, in the most south-westerly county of Cornwall.
I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts. :)
Hello another Kay! Delighted to see your comment here! You live in Cornwall? I long to go there, you are so lucky! Thanks for your kind words about my blog, much appreciated. 😊
