Model At Monadnocks! (Rabbit by Chas & Dave)

Arabia Mountain With Yellow Daisies At Sunset

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but I have a very bright pink shirt that is the coolest thing that I own...since it gets so very hot in Georgia, I wear it very often when I am climbing one of the mountains (or monadnocks, really) in this area.  I will cry when this poor shirt finally falls apart! (By "coolest" I mean it is the thinnest and therefore the most comfortable in hot weather. I rarely use the word "cool" in the sense that most people use it here.  Don't know why, but I dislike the use of the word...maybe because it implies that some people are not cool and therefore it seems disrespectful of others.)

To all my blogging friends, I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of your blogs lately.  It's just that I have been very busy but I hope to get back to normal soon.  Well, as normal as I can be anyway. HA!

Stone Mountain- SAME Pink Shirt! HA!

I hope you will listen to this great song by Chas & Dave...I don't know WHY I thought of this song  to go with this post.  I am SURE that my sweet husband would NEVER think of singing this song to me...yes, I am sure of it.  Really.

    1. Thanks, Audrey! I try to get as FAR from the camera as possible!
I had a busy weekend, I bet you did too! xx

  2. LOL, Kay. Great pictures. I know what you mean about a favorite shirt. Sometimes when I find one I REALLY love- I buy TWO-one for normal wear and one as a "good" one. Sad-but true! xo Diana

    1. I do the same thing, only trouble with me, I have no idea how much I will like a top until after I have had it for a while and I think to myself, "Why didn't I buy more than one?" This is also sad but true! xx

    1. I wish I could spend more time out on "my" monadnocks! The red shirt photo was from March, the Stone Mountain one was from the Spring, I think ...the Yellow Daisy/Arabia one was the most recent one, taken in September!

  4. Lovely pictures. I like the one of all the people around the edge, presumably taking in the views.

    1. Thanks, Tracey! If you look closely, you can see the buildings of Atlanta on the western horizon, it is about 18 miles away. On a very clear day, you can see the mountains of North Georgia on the north side. Quite a spot for viewing the sky and surrounding trees!

  5. Both the pink and the red one really suit you so well. Your own colouring allows for such really bright colours without making you look pale. And the pink behind the yellow daisies looks perfect!

    1. HA! I am the PALEST person you will ever meet! I like to wear bright colors but having said that, black is the main color I wear!
I liked being surrounded by the yellow daisies, it reminded me of being in with the bluebells in England!

  6. I like your pink shirt and it's a good colour on you. But, WOW, what a view! Rabbit isn't the first song that would come to mind to me either - minds work in mysterious ways!! x

    1. Thanks, Julie! And you would LOVE the view from atop Stone Mountain, it iis wonderful!
I think I thought of RABBIT since Richard and I have to contend with a lot of loud mouthed women on some of our walks recently. I am not picking on women, it is just that has been our experience lately. I suppose that is what made me think of this song but besides that, I ADORE Chas & Dave! :-)

  7. Hi Kay,

You are not alone in wearing a comfortable and well loved item of clothing over and over and over and..........

The last time we were away, I had the same sweater on in every single picture that was taken - as you can imagine one and only daughter picked up on that one!
Mind you, she has more clothes here than Marks and Spencer have in their stores. Oh to be young again!

Off to Sussex on 7th November - Fish and Chip supper in Eastbourne a must!!!

    1. Hey Pat!
That tickles me that you got caught wearing the same sweater, you have the photos to prove it! Marks & Spencer, I love that shop!
Oh, I am envious of you going to Eastbourne! Make sure you have more than ONE meal of Fish & Chips! You know I would! ;-)

  8. Great pictures. We went from hot to cold here. It seems one day I was wearing my coolest shirt and the next my warmest. We don't get many in between days at all.

    1. I know just what you mean... it is same here, except it keeps going back and forth from hot to cold! Our leaves are not changing very much, I wonder if they will be as spectacular as they usually are?

  9. The person doesn't necessarily have to be 'cool' Kay. Just the action of wearing a pink shirt, for example, may be regarded as cool. It's not, though, a word I use very much either but for a different reason to yours: I'm just too uncool to make the word sound convincing.

    1. Oh Graham - You "uncool" NEVER.

    2. Graham,
I also would never be considered "cool" but I really don't care, and I think that makes me cool!
That's what I tell myself anyway!

  12. I also have some favorite shirts and in the hot and humid summer temps we get here on the VA eastern shore, "cool" clothing is always the best and most preferred. As for finding time to read and post to blogs that is always difficult to do with so many other things filling our time...enjoy!

    1. HA! It's not the heat, it's the humidity...I say it's BOTH!! Am I right? ;-)
I had to laugh when I was looking over some photos from this year and I am wearing this same pink shirt in so many of them! I wish I was only doing fun things, but working full time, trying to get exercise when I can...you get the picture!

  14. When I think of my most comfortable shirts..it's usually in the form of a sweater here! It's been quite chilly in Ohio and I have a few that are my "go to" garb! Love your pink...you're adorable! The song made me laugh actually! Loved it too!

    1. Why, you sweet thing, no one will call me adorable today, thank you! We have had a few chilly mornings but it warms up beautifully during the day, October has been really pretty.
I am so glad you listened to this song. Now, when a woman walks past you blabbing at the top of her lungs, you will think to yourself..."rabbit, rabbit, rabbit., yap, yap, rabbit, rabbit..."!!

  15. I'm learning a lot about Georgia from your blog. Never heard of Arabia Mountain but looked it up. Amazing place. Love the sweep of exposed granite, the isolated trees and the pools of standing water. Never watched the Chas and Dave video as I've seen them dozens of times here on TV. ( Oh no, Not Chas and Dave again.)
Bet you think the same about one of my favourite cult singers though. Local Atlanta girl Chan Marshall. Oh no, not her again. Quick, switch it over to the other side :) She's an acquired taste I believe.

    1. Thank you very much for visiting my blog. Your blog is wonderful and it makes me want to see Scotland! What gorgeous views.
You would love Arabia Mountain, there is a wild beauty to it that I wish people would appreciate more. It was heavily quarried for years and was treated like an eyesore and a place for drunks to go and smash beer bottles.
I looked up Chan Marshall (Cat Power). I had never heard of her.
Chas & Dave are really quite wonderful songwriters and musicians, much better than people give them credit for! Please visit me again even if we have different musical tastes! :-)

  16. Hi Kay

On the subject of Chas and Dave, they are playing at the Albert Hall next April. If you were able to tie that in with your biennial trip to these shores, I would happily buy the tickets.

And this Saturday I will see another of Rick's favourites, Ralph Mc Tell.

    Kind Regards

    Henry

Oh! I can't tell you how much I want to see a concert at the Royal Albert Hall and to see Chas & Dave too! We will let you know if we can, and wouldn't that be great fun to go to that concert together!! I can just see us rabbiting right along with them...and you know I would!
      I like Ralph too! xx

  17. Hi Kay, I didn't say I didn't like them just that I knew all their songs already. You would like.... Chas and Dave: Last Orders ( BBC 4 Documentary.) It's under that title on you tube. It's an hour long but well worth watching if you haven't seen it. Funny and packed with loads of information about how they met and all the big name stars they have played with. Enjoyable even for folk that don't like them it's that good :) Bob.

    1. Oh, yes! II have already seen it and I loved it, I watched every minute of it. There is a new interview on BBC which just came out this morning about their new album and it's wonderful! (It's just over 6 minutes, I think!) I am so happy that you like them too!
I don't know that too many Americans have heard of them, but they will if they read this blog! ;-)

    1. It is a great view. Arabia Mountain and Panola Mountain are not as high as Stone Mountain but high enough that you are much closer to the clouds and able to feel as one with nature. I love all of them.
I hope YOU are doing well these days, my friend. Take care. xx

  19. Hi Kay! I've been enjoying catching up on all your posts. I love your passion about so many things and how you take action to support your causes. Yes, Richard's photography is lovely and shows how much talent he has. I loved your birds, and butterflies, and flowers. I agree with kj (above) ~ the top of Stone Mountain does look like the ocean and a beach! I can even see whitecaps! Your header above is gorgeous! I hope all is well with you and that things ease up a little! *hugs*
