Sign This Petition!
I am sure that you have seen the cover of the Rolling Stone Magazine for the month of August. It has the face of the Boston Marathon bomber on the cover. (To be strictly legal, we can call him the bombing suspect.) There is a petition that you may sign which is being sent to Rolling Stone asking them to donate all the money made off that particular issue to go to the VICTIMS of the Boston Marathon bombings. I have the link for you here. Please sign it, I hope that they get MILLIONS on that petition.

That's a great idea -- I hope the petition succeeds.
ReplyDeleteMe and you both. In our day and age, it seems they will do anything to make money. Shameful, in my opinion.
DeleteVery great idea. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteLet's hope they listen.
DeleteA good idea. It seemed to me to be the very height of poor taste.
ReplyDeleteI think it is disgraceul.
DeleteJack Osbourne, the son of Ozzy Osbourne, is the one who started this petition. Good for him, I say.
Kay, I have never bought that magazine...but I just always assumed it was about music..guess not, from some of the cover photos. I do not want to see that kids photos again till his trial, and I think anyone who goes against our country on our soil needs to be held for treason. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSusie,
DeleteBelieve it or not, my 86 year old Dad gets this magazine!
He doesn't know why, he has tried to stop them sending it, but it comes coming to him, year after year!
He didn't get this August issue. He said if he had, he was going to mail it back to them!
I signed it, I was horrified by that cover.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was terrible to put him on the cover.
DeleteI signed it, even Rolling Stone should have known better than that!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dorothy. I agree, what were they thinking, just to sell more magazines? Honestly, I think they should be ashamed.
DeleteWhile i understand discussing the issues behind what leads people to behave this way, we don't have to give them freely the notoriety they seek in this way.
ReplyDeleteRolling Stone could have published the article about the Boston Marathon bomber without having that photo on the cover. I think of those who lost limbs, who might have a loved one who died in the bombing and seeing this face peering out at them at a newsstand. Then, I think of the bomber being told that he is on on the cover.
DeleteIt was just plain wrong, and I hope Rolling Stone WILL donate the monies to the bombing victims.
I'm so surprised that Rolling Stone is still going. If they did this to increase their visibility, they've succeeded, in that at least I know they are still there. Not that I read it....
ReplyDeleteJenny,
DeleteRolling Stone is not my kind of reading either, but I hate that they put this photo on their August issue. I think it is shameful. I doubt that they will pay attention to this petition but I signed it anyway and I hope others will too.
Thank you, Kay. A worthy petition and well worth the minute it will take to sign.
ReplyDeleteIt ought to be illegal to give any kind of publicity to people who set off bombs. Deny them the publicity and you deny them the glory they crave. Plaster them on a magazine cover and you are just catering to their sick desire for notoriety.
Thank you, Sue. I so much agree with you. When I saw this petition, I knew I wanted to sign it and to let others know about it too.
DeleteI've never read Rolling Stone and don't intend to start. I wish all publications would stop giving attention to people who have done horrible things. Those people need to just be locked away from the light of day where they can no longer harm anyone.
ReplyDeleteEven if you don't read it, take a second to sign the petition and let them know your displeasure.
DeleteThanks.
