Yellow Flower at Rockdale River Trail at Panola Mountain (Not sure what this is!) |
Kay G- the yellow flower before the rose is yellow butterfly weed. I do not think the first picture is Jerusalem Artichoke, which is a big coarse, meadowland plant. This pictured plant is more delicate-
ReplyDeleteThanks, Betsy! That yellow flower at Panola WAS very delicate, very beautiful. Thanks for identifying the butterfly weed!
DeleteAha! So that's where my goldfinches go in the summer! You have them!
ReplyDeleteYes, they have come to Georgia to escape your extreme HEAT in Colorado! Hope you are staying cool. xx
DeleteYellow like the sun! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, and yellow like the sunflower! Hope you like my bees in my header photo, they made me think of you! ;-)
DeleteThey say yellow is what attracts the beasties and therefore makes the world go round.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers look great!
Richard took all these photos, except for the sunflower in my header photo and the close up of the rose, I took those!
DeleteThe rose was the best picture!
DeleteHa! Wait til I tell Richard!!!
DeleteI am back looking at blogs and came to see how you are.
ReplyDeleteI tried for ages to identify the Yellow Flower at Rockdale River Trail. I should have read Betsy's comment first!
Hello John!
DeleteSo nice to see you here! Hope you are feeling better these days!
Betsy has such a great blog, if you get the chance, go and look at her posts, she is a very good writer.
John, I think of you every single time I admire a beech tree now, you correctly identified it for me. Thank YOU!
While yellow is not my absolute favorite, it's lovely when it's a flower. Today i will look for other examples of yellow that can make me smile.
ReplyDeleteI could never wear yellow, I am way too pale but I love it on a flower!!
DeleteYellow is such a cheerful color. Glad you have so much of it around to see and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI realized that most of the flowers that I enjoyed in June were mostly yellow, so I shared them with you all!! xx
DeleteLovely! I think the Rockdale yellow flower is a type of milkweed, probably the butterfly milkweed.
ReplyDeleteButterfly milkweed, thank you! The bees were loving it too!
DeleteIt was the only one that we saw there, it was just beside the trail, we were happy to see it.
They are all beautiful, Kay. Yellow is one of my favourite colours in the garden. It's so cheerful and uplifting.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of yellow flowers around just now and there is something about yellow that draws your attention. Of course, I love all the colors of the flowers, honestly.
DeleteHope your garden is coming along nicely now. :-)
The 'unknown' yellow flower is the yellow form of the usually orange butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa).
ReplyDeleteThe first flower, based on what look like 6 leaves around the stem, may be Coreopsis major (Greater tickweed)
Hey Joan!
DeleteThank you so much for your visit and identifying these flowers for me.
You know, the butterfly milkweek WAS orange but for some reason, came out yellow in this photo! I forgot all about how orange it was until I read your comment! Also, the mushroom was really orange too, but it also looks yellow!
So I suppose, I should change my post title to "Yellow And Some Orange" to be strictly correct!
Richard THOUGHT that the first flower might be some kind of Coreopsis but he wasn't sure (he is better about plants than I am!)
We are leaving purple, strongly into pink, with yellow yet to come. I find it so interesting how the colors have their own time in the spring/summer. It is too cold and windy on my hill for coreopsis or evening primrose, but I do love them. Beautiful, cheerful, colorful post!
ReplyDeleteHey Nan!
DeleteI was so excited to identify the evening primrose, it has such a sweet scent!
I saw this same flower last year, but there were so FEW of them, in our severe heat from last year, but THIS year, with our cooler Spring and rain, we saw LOTS of them!!
Thanks so much for your comment!
It felt good to meander with you.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they're Jerusalem artichokes. I've grown those for years and they are much more robust with more petals. Maybe those are one of your native sunflowers.
Love,
S
Hello Sharon! Please come and meander with me anytime!
DeleteJoan from her blog JSK is a great expert on the local plant life, and she thinks it is Coreopsis Major. We are very lucky to have so many wildflowers, I love them! I know you love wildflowers too! (And birds, of course!!)
Lovely post. My Aunt Jennie loved yellow. She even bought a yellow car not to mention yellow clothes. How I miss her!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I hope these yellow colors brought back happy memories of your sweet Aunt Jennie. I love the image of her dressed in yellow in a yellow car, just a few words and I feel as if I know her! xx
DeleteI think yellow might be my favourite colour... but I am quite fickle. When I look at a woodland in summer, I think green. When I look at a summer sky I think blue. And I like mauve. And red, orange, indigo and violet! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos.
Oh Jenny, I know just what you mean. I asked my nephew what was his favorite color. "Blue" he said, with great feeling.
Delete"No, GREEN, that is my favorite!", he then said. "Wait, I really love red and yellow..and...oh, I love ALL the colors!" And I had to laugh since I am exactly the same way! All the colors of the rainbow, I appreciate them all. xx
Thanks, Jerry. You remind me of John Wayne! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou know I do, Kay, so - thank you for this sunny post! Comes right in time after several days of grey skies and chilly rain.
ReplyDeleteYay for our love for yellow flowers! And did you notice that one of my yellow flowers photo, I picked it for you to see because it had a few blue flowers scattered there at the back! GREY SKIES ARE GONNA CLEAR UP< PUT ON A HAPPY FACE!! (That's from a song, don't you know!)
DeleteWell, I would actually rather be Clint Eastwood, but I am not a good enough writer to express a knowing look in words. Besides, Arlynda would tell you that I talk way too much in real life. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYou think YOU talk too much? HA! Don't ask my husband about me!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYellow is the most uplifting of colours. It's impossible to imagine, for example, someone being miserable whilst wearing a yellow dress (actually that's not quite accurate I should be pretty miserable if I were to have to wear a yellow dress).
ReplyDeleteI think you might cause some great smiles if you walked around in a pretty yellow dress.
ReplyDeleteJerry reminds me of Boris Karloff!
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right, ol' Boris always made quite an impression upon the ladies. Thanks, Adullamite!
ReplyDeleteI have a lovely yellow rose bush and I love all yellow..except dandelions!
ReplyDeleteAnd wouldn't you know it, my yard is FULL of dandelions! It might be the only thing holding our lawn together! ;-)
DeleteWow! You really managed to find the most beautiful yellows around. This is a very sunny post.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay. I know you have some beautiful yellow flowers too. I am remembering your header photo of the bright yellow flowers, the one that I told you that one in the middle seemed to be in a shape of a heart, remember? :-)
DeleteThat wasn't what I meant!!!!
ReplyDeleteToo late, you have already given Jerry a compliment!
ReplyDeleteSic 'im, Kay!
ReplyDeleteGirl I do love yellow - it is such a feel good color!
ReplyDeleteIf you like yellow, you should check out the Sunflower Festival in Rutledge, it is just down the road from my Dad's! It is this weekend...July 6th & 7th!
DeleteLovely....
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you so much and thank you for becoming a new follower, I really appreciate it.
