The Library Baby

Today is Mother's Day and so I think it only right that I share my son with you.  At the risk of embarassing him since he is now all grown up, I must tell you that he is known as "the library baby".  We love our books, you see, and the library was very close to us, so naturally it was a place that we often visited.   The video that I found above shows him with his Dad and Bunny, a friend and neighbor.   He is only on there for just a few seconds at the beginning, but I was really pleased to find this and watch it! (He is wearing one of his "Bert" shirts from Sesame Street.  He loved Bert and Ernie, Richard could do such a great impression of those two!)  Thanks to David who was also a neighbor at the time, who filmed this and put this on Youtube.

This last photo was taken on the Eastbourne seafront and we are posing in front of the flowers that they call "Snow In Summer" and I love them so very much.  Love you, Christopher... (Matey, Christoph)   Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
Wait, there is one more video that David did at the library and it shows Christopher dancing!  He had already been dancing for about thirty minutes and David only ran and got the camera just for the last few minutes and little C. was the only one left! You can see me with my big hair in the background watching him.  The quality isn't wonderful but you are able to see his chestnut brown curls bouncing as he dances .  Goodness me, he has always been adorable!

  1. Ah, so sweet! Will you be in trouble for showing us this? He was a cute looking kid and he is now a fine looking young man. I think he'll be delighted that his mother is so proud of him.

    1. Well, I don't think he will mind. He has an easy-going nature like his Dad. The only thing he got from me was seasonal allergies and my love of sports! My husband would say the latter is the worst!
And I know he won't mind you saying he is fine looking!
      :-)

  2. Awwwww....so sweet! He was such a cute kid, and now he's a handsome young man. I love that photo of you and him together; so sweet. And I love your big hair in the video! We all had BIG BIG hair back then. So glad that's over and done with :)

    1. Thanks, Martha! And I am with you on the big hair. How did we do that? I didn't tease mine or anything, it just kind of exploded on my head. Must have been the way it was cut. Curious!

  3. Happy Mothers' Day, Kay!
Christopher was quite the little mover! Does he still dance with such enthusiasm?

    1. Happy Mother's Day to you too!
Christopher danced so much as a kid. Not so much now, but he still loves music. He plays the guitar and writes music. When he makes it big, you can say you knew him as Georgia Girl's son! :-)

    2. Dear Audrey,
Thanks! Hope you had a great day too!
And does your brother go by "Chris" now? All his friends call him that, but we still call him Christopher, but if I am writing a note or writing a letter about him, I just shorten it to "C"! My idea was to name him something that would fit in either America or England, little did I know it was the most popular boy's name for 1989! Oh well! :-)

    3. Yes, he does go by Chris. Funnily enough, when he was young I always called him Tristan. I have no idea why or where I got that from. I still call him that every once in a while.

    4. I always think of Tristan from "All Creatures Great And Small". I hope you like those books! I saw the TV show from England first, and read the books later.
I also have a cousin named "Christopher" or "Chris". He and his wife had the baby shower back in March, where I made the diaper cake, the one for baby Esme!

  6. You mean you didn't ask him before you showed us all these pictures and videos...?
Of course he needn't mind, since the pictures are certainly well worth showing, but I'd never dream of showing anyone without asking their permission first. My family are very particular about such things, even just mentioning their first names is not allowed.

    1. Dear Meike,
He had already given me permission to put his photo on my blog and he said it was fine for the dancing video too.
When I was choosing the photos, I kept finding ones I liked, so he didn't know how MANY I had on here until he read it!

    2. Well, I am glad your family are all OK about having their pictures shown - we'd miss out on some great posts of yours otherwise!

    1. Hey kj,
Christopher's smile! He was a photographer's dream when he was growing up. In the studio, we would be in and out of there in a jiffy, while other kids would take forever being coaxed for a smile.
Recently, he called on his cell phone and wanted to make sure of the best way to handle a baby bird in the road, he had PULLED OVER to rescue it. That's my boy!

  8. Thanks for the smile. It's the wee hours now and too late to wish you happy Mother's Day, but I do. Did. :)

    1. Hey! Thanks for the wishes. I will take them anytime!
Did you know that when I leave a comment on your blog, there is a delay? In other words, I type one letter and it takes several seconds for it to show up, so leaving a comment takes a while. Please notice that does not stop me though! (I had to leave one on Davy Jones!)

    1. Dear Nan,
Thank you, he was a sweet little guy!
You know, that would be a good idea. I just asked my son and he said you need different software for your computer and you would hook it up to your VCR and then it can somehow happen. (Don't ask me how).
