Richard's Photos-4th of April, 2012
Richard started taking photos yesterday, beginning with a beautiful sunrise and ended with moonlight through the pines!
I have already showed you a photo of our tufted tifmouse taking a bath. It looks likes either he or his mate came back to pose again!
The other bird photo is of a red-headed woodpecker and Richard was happy to see him since it has been a while since we have seen this bird. (It was taken with the zoom lens, and so Richard says the quality isn't perfect and the bird is hiding behind the branch a bit!) All these photos were taken either in our front or our back yard and I love the photos of the flowers. All by the master gardener himself, Richard! (Reader, I married him.)
Loved the post of everyone telling me about clowns yesterday! Thanks for all the comments. It reminded me of a song. "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Gerry Rafferty. Do you know it? It was a big hit in the 70's. I didn't know this until I looked it up yesterday, but he wrote it after meeting with record company execs which makes sense when you listen to the words. "Jokers to the left of me, clowns to the right, here I am , stuck in the middle with you." I found the song on Youtube and the video has good sound but is slightly disturbing to me, but hey, that's just me...maybe this could have started our dislike of clowns and women with big fat red lips! Also, when this song was a hit, it was when he was in the group called Stealers Wheel.
Hope everyone is happy observing all the awakening life around them this week. Let's see all your Spring photos!
You're so lucky to be surrounded by so much natural beauty! (and to have such a good gardener!)
ReplyDeleteMost of the natural beauty has to be watered a lot!
DeleteHa! I must tell you, I nearly die laughing at your posts, they are so cleverly written, so funny!
Could you do this on the stage and become a stand-up comic? I could say I knew you when!
I remember that song! Actually I always loved it, though I didn't o listen closely to the words, it just seemed like such a funny title, "stuck in the middle with you". What lovely pictures - congratulations to Richard!
ReplyDeleteI always liked the song, and it still sounds good today and it was a hit in 1972...it will be 40 years old this year. Wow.
DeleteAnd thanks, I will let Richard know!
How good to have not only a beautiful garden, but also a master-gardener with it, who is also very good at photography - and happens to be your husband :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to post some spring pictures on my blog for several days now, but somehow time seems to be just flying this week. Well, tomorrow is a day off, and so I should get round to it.
Dear Meike,
DeleteThanks! And I will look forward to your Spring photos!
(When will you go to your parents' allotment again?)
Kay, it is too cold and rainy now to go to the allotment, that is something reserved for sunny days. But I hope it will happen soon!
DeleteI think your walk to the allotment was one of the first posts that I remember reading of yours, so it has fond memories for me even though I have never been there! :-)
DeleteI've always love Gerry Rafferty - remember the song Baker Street? One of my all-time favourite songs. I really felt bad when he passed away last January (2011). Love your (Richards!) spring photos - the sky in that second shot looks like orange sherbet - delicious!! We are getting another big snowstorm right now - all of our snow was gone and we were in full spring mode - sneaky, sneaky Mother Nature. Then again, it's only the first part of April and this time is notorious for spring storms. In the meantime, I will live vicariously through your wonderful pictures :)
ReplyDeleteDear Jane,
DeleteSnow! Oh my, you really WILL enjoy Spring when you get it! And yes, I liked the song "Baker Street" too.
Sad that he passed away, but music never dies.
So that must be the Woody Woodpecker bird!! We have Hairy, Downy, and Pileated but not the Red-Headed! Great looking bird.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked that song. Gerry Rafferty died last year. Not a happy life.
Dear Nan,
DeleteWe have all those woodpeckers too and you have reminded me of another one, I might have to do a post about it!
Yes, I know he died and it sounds like he was one of those who found the celebrity really hard to handle. I don't know how folks do it, I would be like Russell Crowe and probably want to throw phones at people too!
Hello Kay, great photos. We have a red hooded wood pecker pecking away at one of our oak trees.
ReplyDeleteI chuckled when I saw your last photo.. It's amazing how similar it is to the photo I took in February from my window.( Great minds think a like ????? )I'll post it just to show you....Mine is not as good as yours. Have a Blessed Easter and Happy Spring
Hey!
DeleteI will look forward to seeing your photo and how much it looks like this one! Happy Easter & Spring to you too, my dear and to all your loved ones.
HA! I just posted some of my Spring photos about a minute ago so laughed when I read the last line. I finally bought a little pot bottom for my birds ~ filled it with water last night but I know it'll take them a while to discover it's there. I can't wait! Love all of these photos, but especially the woodpecker one!!! Going to look up that song now because I always liked it ~ cool to know the background....
ReplyDeleteDear Audrey,
DeleteI can't wait to see how long it takes for them to find it. Sometimes, we will come home from work, and will see all the water splashed around the sides and the water level down, so we know they have had a pool party!
We love our birds! Glad you like the redheaded woodpecker too!
My hat is off and my black thumb salutes your master gardener!
ReplyDeleteRichard is very good at gardening. He is very good at anything really, some people are like that. I am not one of them!
Delete:-)
I know that song very well, and I love it! That little bird taking a bath is just too sweet. I want to kiss the top of its little head. These are gorgeous photos. Next to gardening, photography is one of my favourite hobbies. My garden should be waking up in leaps and bounds this month, so my camera and I are going to be very busy. April is a wonderful month!
ReplyDeleteHey Martha,
DeleteYour reply is down below somehow! Our power went out, and when it came back, I commented in the wrong spot!
Richard has done well with his photography.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Wait until I show you his REALLY good shots! And he is an excellent guitarist and songwriter too!
DeleteDear Martha,
ReplyDeleteI love your photos! Can't wait to see all that you will have on your blog this Spring & Summer!
Hey, guess what! April is my birthday month and my Dad's birthday month too, so I have always loved it! :-)
You were a spring baby! How fitting since you are so sweet and bubbly - just like this month!
DeleteYou are sweet to say so but April can also be unpredicatable and stormy, just like me! HA HA!
DeleteUNPREDICTABLE...why can't I notice things before I hit publish?
DeleteGreat photos as always. I remember Stealers Wheel well but didn't know the background to "Jokers to the left of me, clowns to the right, here I am , stuck in the middle with you." I love the song but could do without the video!
ReplyDeleteA very happy Easter to you and all!
Love
John
Thanks! I was impressed by the quality of the sound of that video but the video itself, was not to my taste either.
DeleteI decided to put this on my post since I thought it went along with the dislike of clowns. You would not BELIEVE how much time I spend looking at Youtube before I decide on which one I will put on my blog! And I have read that most people hardly ever click on them anyway! AHHHHHH! (That is me doing a slightly frustrated scream, but with a smile.)
P.S. 'why can't I notice things before I hit publish?' We all ask ourselves the same question. At least, I hope we all do, I certainly do!
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think Blogger has it in for me. I think I really have everything perfectly to begin with, so it must be the fault of the computer, right?
DeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I frequently hear woodpeckers in the woods when I am walking the dogs, but I have yet to see one, so I particularly appreciated that pic.
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't experience any of the problems Jane Eyre did before you married him!
Dear Tracey,
DeleteThank you! And try to follow the sound of those woodpeckers, and you will see them!
And Tracey, I knew that you would notice my Jane Eyre reference. That is one of my favorite books ever! :-)
