Hey! Anybody remember me telling you that I had discovered a CD that I didn't know that we had? I know you must have all just been waiting with great anticipation to know the name of it! Well, wait no longer.... it is "Quality Street", the Christmas album by Nick Lowe! It came out in 2013 and Richard tells me that we have had that in our collection since that year. Tee -hee, better late than never, right? Anyway, I have given you three of the songs here but please, search these songs out. I love them all!
"I Was Born in Bethlehem" was written by Nick Lowe.
"I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday". Roy Wood with Wizzard are the original artists. (Roy Wood is listed as the songwriter.) It is VERY popular in the UK! That song was on "Now That's What I Call Music (The Christmas Album") from 1985. You know we have it still! It is becoming more well known here in the USA with more and more artists covering this song. I really love how Nick Lowe does it! It really makes you want to dance around and sing along to it, it does that for me anyway!
In my last post, I showed you a photo of my tree from last year. In doing that, I saw this picture of the Planters Nuts that I had gotten for my husband. La dee dah, I thought I would try to buy this again for him. Guess what, you cannot find this ANYWHERE! You can see it on Amazon, but it is completely sold out. Interesting to me, I think it is because it has such sweet colorful packaging with funny little sayings. I liked it so much, I didn't even wrap it, as you can see!
Hey! I found another video! If you look at this, you can click on each number and hear a sample of each song on the album.
I like Nick Lowe's voice. First time I've heard it. I was in the shops today and it was hectic. Pure madness. Not having children I must confess I'm always glad when it's over and sanity returns to the major stores. But I might put a Christmas film on of my own choosing to get in the mood. Watched Oppenheimer on TV tonight although that didn't feel that festive somehow.
ReplyDeleteHey Bob! Glad you like Nick Lowe too! He was very popular back in the 80's. He was big buddies with Elvis Costello. Oppenheimer? Oh boy, that isn't very cheerful. I didn't care for it, and that Barbie film that came out the same year? When it came out on TV, I thought it was dreadful, couldn't even get through 30 minutes, I think. But then, you know how OUT of touch I am with trendy things, LOL!
DeleteA blessed and beautiful Merry Christmas to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteSame to you!
DeleteYes, we have Quality Street brand chocolates and toffee tins here in Canada too. They are THE BEST! So sinfully delicious. And I want to see that Neil Diamond tribute singers movie too -- not because I'm necessarily a huge Neil Diamond fan, but because I'm a huge Hugh Jackman fan! He looks good in the trailer in a terrible haircut kind of way.
ReplyDeleteOh, you LUCKY people in Canada! But then, you already know that, I am sure! Will think of you when I see that film with Hugh Jackman!
DeleteHappy Christmas to you and yours. Your poinsettias are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, those poinsettias are from last year, but my husband has kept them alive and we are still enjoying them this year. (Even though the bracts are not red, it is still a pretty plant!) Happy Christmas!
DeleteI have never heard of Nick Lowe but he has a lovely voice. I am looking forward to Song Sung Blue also. Have a blessed, wonderful Chrismtas, Kay! xo Diana
