Vote! (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame)

Now is the time for all music lovers to vote for the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

You have until Dec. 5th  and you can vote EVERY DAY
until then but you can only vote once a day. Oh, and also you can vote for up to 5 artists. Got that? Okay, go here and vote!
Want to know my vote?  I wonder if you could guess? You don't have to, I will tell you!

The Moody Blues, Dire Straits, Kate Bush, The Zombies and Sister Rosetta Tharpe-  these are my choices!

The Zombies

                                                 Sister Rosetta Tharpe

                                                    The Moody Blues

My heart is a bustin' with my love for music! (Sorry, I only just found  the heart's a bustin' bush this year.  It is not quite as colorful since the seeds were almost gone but it made me happy to see it.)

  1. I hadn't heard of Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Was it hard to decide who to vote for?

    Gorgeous butterfly!

    1. I should have said more about Sister Rosetta Tharpe, she was an amazing woman, and deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

  2. Interesting (and good) choices, Kay....Do you know this song, which I really love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl0e7rFUVEw ? Alison Krauss singing Sister Rosetta leads the way.....

    1. No, I didn't know it but it is an interesting song, it was written by Sam Phillips (a woman, not the Sam Phillips from Sun Records!) and I find the background to it interesting also... Sister Rosetta Leads The Way.

    2. Ah, and I did not know about Sam Phillips! So much I do not know...But you help me, Kay! She is so interesting! I read a lot about her and was intrigued that she wrote the music for The Gilmore Girls.

    3. Well, thank YOU for your comment or I would not have known about the female Sam Phillips! I love to look up people, I find them endlessly fascinating.

  3. I have never come across Sister Rosetta Tharpe, either, but then of course I often read about something for the very first time here on your blog :-)
Lovely pictures of the butterfly on the sunflower!

  4. Wow - tough call. Love your choices, though .like others I had never heard of Rosetta Tharpe before - she's great! I could probably think about this all day but, off the top of my head and in no particular order: Chuck Berry (where would rock 'n' roll be without him?); the Beatles; Dr Feelgood; JJ Cale; Pink Floyd (OK, maybe not technically rock 'n' roll, but hey). Thank you, Kay - enjoyed that.

  7. Didn't know you were a Kate Bush fan Kay. She's not as well known in the USA as here in the UK. Named 2nd greatest modern English songwriter recently after John Lennon at no 1.

    1. I have that English heart, don't you know, you should know that I know Kate Bush! Remember I am also a big fan of Chas & Dave and hardly any Americans know them either!

    1. We were very glad that the Moody Blues were finally nominated. Apparently, there was some kind of vendetta against them by Jann Wenner (editor of Rolling Stone Magazine). He said that they would get into the Hall of Fame over his dead body. Well, you can guess who much I think of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine.

  12. I can't understand how Nina Simone got onto the list...she was definitely not rock and roll, in my opinion, anyway. I wouldn't class Kate Bush as r and r, either.

I love Simone and have done since I was a teenager. I love the Moody Blues, too...and only yesterday was playing some of their music. Back in 1986 I had tickets to go and see The Eurythmics live in concert, but unfortunately I couldn't get away from work (I was at the time managing the resort on Hinchinbrook Island), so I gave the tickets to one of my staff members who was due for her days off at the time of their concert. She, my staff member, was very grateful! lol

All I wanted from her in return for the tickets was to have a great time...and she did!

    1. Hey Lee,
You should see the list of all those already honored in the Rock & Roll Hall, I would also question where they were R & R, so if they are then...Kate Bush should be there too!
How nice of you to give away your concert tickets. My co workers just like to give me a hard time! LOL!

    2. B.B. King is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...and to me, he is pure Blues.

Of course, there is a lot of Blues in R 'n R (or to be more direct, vice versa). Rock 'n Roll, no doubt, had it's origins there...in the Blues...and in Gospel, too - for example Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
