It May Be Raining But There's A Rainbow Above You

"Desperado" is a song from the early 1970's by the Eagles.  The songwriters are Glenn Frey and Don Henley. It was recorded in London with the London  Philharmonic Orchestra with Don Henley singing lead vocals.  Never released as a single, it is nevertheless one of their most well known songs.

Recently, it was reported that Vince Gill will perform with The Eagles on tour along with Deacon Frey, Glenn's son.  The two will share lead vocals on the songs that Glenn Frey sang with the Eagles.  Sadly, Glenn Frey died in January of 2016.

The video that I have for is from the 02 Arena in London from 2014.   I saw the Eagles when they came to Atlanta during the 1970's and they were wonderful...a very nice memory to think of those gorgeous voices!

You better let somebody love you...

I love how the crowd sang along at the end!

  1. I've always liked that song, but the version I heard was sung by a woman. I can't remember who it was though.

    1. I am sure you are thinking of Linda Ronstadt! The Eagles band was formed from her back up band! I love her too, had all her albums or tapes. You know I belted then out in the car!

    1. I would love to see them in concert again! Alas, ticket prices these days are just a bit too high for me. I am so cheap! LOL.

  3. You probably won't believe it, but I honestly did not know this song until I clicked on the video here.
I guess as my parents did not listen to the Eagles (unless they were played on the radio), I did not become familiar with their music in the 1970s, and I was not old enough then to buy my own records or decide on what music was being played at home.
A wonderful and touching way of continuing the songs by having the son singing them!

    1. I can see that you might not know them. Honestly, I am surprised how much American bands are known outside of this country, it just depends on how much airplay they have been given, I suppose.
You know how much I love music and The Eagles were always great for me to sing along with, which is one of my favorite things to do!

    1. I also like Country Music, but I am quite particular about it, as I am about all music. I know what I like and what I don't like, and I have very strong feelings about it! :-)

  5. Here's hoping the son can perform as well as the father. I'm sure he'll do Glenn proud.

    1. I had heard that Vince Gill was going to tour with The Eagles and sing the vocals that Glenn Frey had done, but then, when I was doing this post, I read that Glenn's son would also split the vocals with him. That is a nice thing, I think.

    1. Thanks! That rainbow was just from this past weekend. This is one time when the photo is not as good as what we saw, we saw every color of the rainbow and it was very clear and bright. Very pretty.

    1. Remember when Don Henley said that the Eagles would tour "when hell freezes over"? They DID go back on tour and they called it "The Hell Freezes Over Tour". I loved that! After the tour, they came out with an album by the same name.

  10. Coincidentally I saw a vinyl (LP) of Eagles songs in a Charity/Goodwill/Op-shop today.

    1. Isn't it great that the vinyl albums are making a comeback? I never thought a CD had the same sound quality as an album and besides, I felt sorry for the kids not having an album cover to look at!
I wonder, were you tempted to buy the Eagles album?
By the way, I love the charity shops in England, I make a point to buy things from as many as I can when I am there.

    2. I have just given hundreds of vinyls to Oxfam, Kay, as part of my de-cluttering programme. However I have several Eagles CDs and, nowadays, there is always Spotify.

    3. Oh yes, I do remember that you were having a turf out!
You know, I mentioned that I like to buy things from the charity shops in England but I have also given things to them. One time, I brought over a book by a local author, a pack of card that said "American Airlines" and oh, I can't remember it, but it was one other thing...all American. I came back later and all those things were displayed in the window! I hope they were able to sell them!

  11. One of my favorites by the Eagles, Kay. Glenn Frey died too young.
