I Don't Repeat Gossip/Cactus and Stones

It's true...I don't repeat gossip, so you better listen closely the FIRST time!
HA!  I totally stole that from the old TV show "HEE HAW".

(Hee Haw is one of my Dad's favorite shows. I bet he knows them all by heart!)

There are a lot of movies that are filmed here in Georgia.  Would you like to hear about some of the big names from Hollywood and what they are really like? Sure you would!

I have told you in a post several years ago that Hugh Jackman filmed a movie just down the road from me!  The crew had all their equipment at a local church and my friend worked at the church nursery at the time.  I will forever and always love Hugh Jackman because he went into the church building and spoke with the women who worked there and took pictures with them all.
It only took a few minutes from his day but it was a very kind thing to do.

Dwayne Johnson ( you might not recognize the name, he is usually called "The Rock") made a film here and I talked with someone recently who was an extra in the movie.  Now, I have read that some criticize his acting ability and his political views but for me, I think he is a great guy for this one thing alone:  when he filmed this movie in Conyers, Georgia he asked the extras if he could sit and eat lunch with them!  He did this every day of the filming. That might not seem like a big deal to you but the big stars usually have their own trailers and do not associate with the low lifes like extras! Once again, very kind.
(Another actor in the movie was NOT very nice to the extras...I won't tell you his name but...his first name is only three letters and his last name is the same name as a type of fuel. There, you can figure it out!)

Carroll O'Connor was Archie Bunker in "All In The Family".  He also starred in the show "In The Heat of the Night" which was filmed in Conyers and Covington, Georgia.  Once, I was stopped at a light and I looked in my rear view mirror.  To my surprise, there was Carroll O'Connor looking right at me! What did I do?
I mouthed the words "I love you".  He smiled, put his hand over his heart and lowered his head, as if he were taking a bow! Wonderful guy! (And he was NOT a bigot, like his character from "All In The Family, he was just a good actor!)
============================================
Hope you are able to go on long walks and enjoy the beauty of the natural world! Our cactus bloomed and one bloom was bright pink and one was a very pale pink, and it was on the same plant! (The color looks orange in the photo but it was really a bright pink.) It is supposed to be a Christmas cactus but no one told the plant this, it sometimes blooms in time for Valentine's Day!

When I see stones positioned like this at Arabia Mountain, I think of the time and effort that someone took to do this.  It reminds me of the stones at Stonehenge and Avebury in England, on a smaller scale, of course.  When you see the sun hit the rock, it makes you wonder, if the stones were placed there, not for any special purpose but just for the sheer beauty and balance as they have been done here.
(You can also see shapes emerge if you look carefully, Richard noticed that the last photo looks like a man holding a big stick, can you make that out too?)
Look! I am waving to you wherever you are in the world! (Yes, I do have a head the size of a basketball.  I think everyone should!)  Take care!

    1. Yes, we are in the Hollywood of the South now!
I don't mind it except when they close the roads down, that can be a real bummer! :-)

  2. Hugh Jackman and Dwayne Johnson both have reputations for being wonderful, caring and down-to-earth guys so I'm not surprised to hear your gossip! They are truly classy.

    1. The gentleman that I spoke to didn't seem the type to exaggerate be he wanted to make sure that I knew about the super nice guy Dwayne Johnson!

  3. When I was a kid and my parents watched Heehaw I thought it was corny, but looking back I think it was rather sweet.
Good gossip, no need to repeat, we'll pass it on.

  4. "Gloom despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression excessive misery. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. Gloom despair and agony on me." My favorite part of Hee-Haw.

  5. I think you know that I worked for NBC...ooh...the stories I could tell...and some of the "most loved" TV stars were the biggest jerks in real life...and some were wonderful. Burt Reynolds was a biggie back then and just a doll to work with...funny and charismatic.
My dad used to love Hee Haw, too. xo Diana

    1. Oh Burt Reynolds! He toured the prison in Alto where my Grandfather was Captain of the guards, and my Grandfather said he was a nice guy. (I think the tour was in connection to the film "The Longest Yard".)
Also, Burt Reynolds filmd "Smokey and The Bandit" in Conyers, GA! Lots of people met him, but he managed to evade me! LOL! xx

  7. Never heard of Hee Haw across the pond, just the Beverly Hillbillies who look roughly around the same time period and dressed much the same. I liked that TV Show as a kid.
You probably get better stories told among the extras and I read recently those two stars didn't get on that well.(That's gossip though :o)

    1. The Beverly Hillbillies were also very popular at our house! (You know the hat that Jed Clampett wears? My Grandfather had a hat EXACTLY like it!)
I can bet that the two stars didn't get on well together, I don't think the ROCK likes bullies!!

  8. Carroll was indeed a talented actor. But weren't you quick thinking and wasn't he gallant! What a great memory....Those standing stones are wonderful. Are they only temporary?

    1. Seeing Carroll O'Connor in my rear view mirror, that is a great memory!
The stones...they will be just temporary. Someone will most certainly knock them down.

Beautiful cactus flowers. At the moment I have no flowers in my house; the only two potted plants I have (an azalea and an orchid) are flowerless right now. And what with me being away nearly every weekend, and all day during the week anyway, it is really for the best.

  12. I love Hugh Jackman myself and I've heard what a great guy Dwayne Johnson is personally. It'd be a thrill to meet them. It was nice of Jackman to take some time out of his day like that. It doesn't sound like much, but there are many people who wouldn't even do that much.

    1. There are quite a few actors who film here, so it is not unusual for them to be around. These Hollywood folks need to get over themselves, and just be nice to everyone!

  13. I was an extra for a scene filmed inside my church sanctuary for a Robin Williams Christmas movie. The movie turned out to be terrible, but it was fun to sit in the "congregation" and watch the actors film the same scene (over and over and over.) We were told we would be ejected if we spoke to the actors, but Joel McHale looked at us at one point and said, "You guys are doing great." So nice.

Enjoy things as they are I say.

    1. As long as the stones are moved and not disturbing any wildflowers, I don't mind them doing this. (This area was all rock and a bit out of the way.)
Like you, I really like things left alone but sometimes, I will admire the hard work of them putting these rocks together, but I will always look for flowers first!

  16. Loved reading that. Someone I know was at a local very small store and looked up to see Bruce Willis right there, his daughter was attending a local school for a short time, so he stayed here fora time. She knew who he was, he knew she knew and she was embarrassed and so just said Good morning, and he did the same.

  17. We Aussies love our own Hugh Jackman - what fun to know he was filming over near you. We had Colin Firth filming near us a few years ago - I kept hoping he would just pop up at the shops one day :)
Love your cactus flower, and those interesting stone constructions.

    1. Hugh Jackman was so close, he would have driven past my street every day! (The filming was done just a half mile down the road.!)
And I bet I know the Colin Firth movie that was filmed near you, I am sure it was "Railway Man", which I thought was WONDERFUL. If you ever get the chance, you should read the book, it is excellent.
Cactus and stones, looks as if I am going through some desert times, just now.
