Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover

Hello everyone!  Happy news! My Dad is much better!  Recently, I did a post for Joy & Henry and in the comment from their son, Henry told me that his Dad always looks for photos of my Dad's garden...so I have some here for you!

A few years back, I asked my Dad to pose in one of his favorite hang outs, the local hardware store! He teased the owner, Paul, that there wasn't one single place in which to write his check, so Paul rigged a clipboard to the side of the counter just for my Dad! He calls it his office! (So funny!)

Also, from years back...Daddy is posing here on his April birthday with two of his grandsons, my nephews, Ian and Sam. (Look at my Dad's arms, that comes from years of hard work!)

Dad loves his cell phone!  I took this photo of him on his front porch on the same day as the one above on his birthday.  See the beautiful rose bush beside his porch? It is such a gorgeous color beside his blue house, you can also see it in the photo below.

I couldn't find a photo of Daddy on his tractor...but I did find a tractor photo for you!  This was taken one year at the tractor ride that they did before the Sunflower Festival, which was held just down the road from my Dad's.  I miss that festival! Hope they bring it back one day!

Well, doggone, how did this cowboy and his dog get on this post?  That is our son, Christopher! (With Max, I think, belonging to my brother and sister-in-law.)

Ah, here is another "doggy"shot for you!  It is Dad with his dog, "Bandy". and Daddy is wearing the cap I crocheted for him last year.   So happy that Daddy is doing better!

Oh, leaving you a photo of my Dad's canned potatoes... and he grew all these potatoes himself! The jars go about 10 deep on that shelf.  The cabinet has to be be specially made to hold the weight.  These potatoes just taste so good.

My Dad was born in 1927, the same year that the song "I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover" was written. I love this song, it reminds me of him.

    1. Yes, and that is one reason why this song reminds me of him! I am glad you like the photos of his garden, I will have to look back and see if I have more and do another post about him, he is a most interesting man, if I do say so myself!

  5. So pleased your Dad is better! All our good thoughts, wishes and prayers must have done their bit :-)
Great pictures! When you said you couldn't find one with your Dad on his tractor, I remembered one you posted with your Dad sitting on a toy tractor and grinning like a little kid, so happy!
It's funny how you call this your Dad's "garden" - it looks like fields to me, the size of a small farm :-)

    1. Yes, and thank you for your prayers and well wishes! I truly believe in prayer and positive energy.
I will try to find that photo of Dad on the toy tractor! I took that at one of the Sunflower Festivals and he was very tickled to climb on that wooden tractor made for children! The joy it gave him was right there on his face! :-)
I really need to do a post about Dad's days as a farmer, when he worked the fields as a youngster, even picking one hundred bales of cotton a day. He has always worked very hard, his whole life.

  9. I'm glad your dad is doing better. He's a total badass. The world needs men like him for as long as it can have them. Which, in his case, will be a long time yet.

His back garden looks like a field. Wouldn't like to weed that lot!!
We are off to Sussex for two weeks. Will drink a toast (or three)to you and yours when we are in Eastbourne. Pictures will follow!

    1. Hey Pat!
Wish I could see you in Eastbourne in March! Make sure you have a cheese scone for me at Shade's! (It is in the Arndale Centre, beside Boot's and across from BHS!) They have the BEST cheese scone in town, you might wonder how I know, it is because I have tried them ALL! HA! Hope you have lovely weather while you are there! OH! And if you can, visit my favorite church there, All Souls Church, it is just behind the Arndale Centre, on Susans Rd.
Lovely to hear from you! :-)

  13. Hi Kay

You are so prolific- I am having trouble keeping up!

Good to hear that your Dad is feeling better - 'on the mend' as they tend to say in these parts. This is another post that the folks are looking forward to seeing. We printed off the earlier one and took it with us when we went to see them a couple of days ago. They were delighted and are now looking forward to seeing it on the 'big screen'.

And we are looking forward to seeing you two next month.

    Best wishes

    Henry

    1. I do hope that your dear parents will like the posts that I did for them! And you really inspired this post, Henry, since you mentioned that your Dad always asked to see photos of my Dad's garden! :-)
Richard is planning a visit very soon to you but alas, I don't have the vacation time and must be left behind. Never mind, I am making sure he comes back loaded with chocolate and Yorkshire tea! xx

  14. I'm so happy your dad is feeling better. He really looks like a guy who loves life and cares about everybody. He's also the sort of handy guy you'd want for your neighbor. For one thing, he'll always have the best vegetables. Christopher is looking mighty handsome there.
