Adele In Disguise

Hello, everybody!  Sorry I have not been around to see all of your blogs lately.  I could tell you that it is because I am having a very exciting time these days, but alas, that is not the case! All of today was spent in tidying up and sorting out and I am always amazed at how long these things take for me.  Somehow, I managed to injure my hand, it will be okay but it hurts just now typing this!  Okay then, let me be quick and tell you...did anyone else see the video of Adele with Graham Norton?  She disguised herself with a fake nose and chin and went to a...oh heck, what would you call it....a competition of Adele impersonators?  Anyway,  I have the video of it for you...if you like you can go to the 3:35 mark to listen to Adele sing and when the others finally recognize that it is Adele herself, why, they are simply gobsmacked!  (And yes, computer, do NOT underline that word, I can assure you that IS the correct word to use! In fact, one of them uses it in the video!)

Now, here is my question....I wonder why they didn't recognize her?  I would have known it was her, fake nose or not! If nothing else, they should have recognized her voice.  They certainly knew it was Adele when she began singing!  I think she is a fantastic singer and artist.  Of course, millions of others think so too but it is rare these days for me to agree with the majority when it comes to music.

Oh! And when you watch the video...I love it when Adele is watching the man singing like Adele (the female impersonator), you can just tell that Adele is really enjoying it just from the look on her face.  And when all of them realize that is it Adele...pure joy!  And it made me giggle when one of them mentions that Adele's album will be out soon and you can hear Adele say, "Took her time".  So funny!  I enjoyed this very much and I hope that you will too.

What photo should go with this post? An English rose, of course!

    1. I noticed that MILLIONS had seen it on YouTube only after I had put it on my post! :-) I thought it was really good. Adele seems like a great gal to me, doesn't matter how rich she is, only how nice!!

  3. Hi Kay

Your other followers will comment on the central theme of the blog so, off at something of a tangent, Graham Norton lives( or, at least, has one of his properties) in Cooden Beech which is less than 2 miles from Joy and Henry. And a certain Beatle - not Ringo- is only a few miles inland.

And our second nearest concert hall (after the DLWP) has a Beatles Day at the beginning of April.

    Best wishes

    Henry

    1. Hey Henry!
Oh, I think I do remember you telling me that Graham Norton had a house in Cooden Beach, but you can guess that I forgot all about it! Ah, Paul is the one, I think who lives near Rye, does he not? Wish I could see him sometime!
I hope you will be going to the Beatles Day concert, that sounds great!
Take care, Henry and give our love to Sarah and to Joy and Henry!

  6. I have seen the video before. During my time on the edge of the music business I met many star impersonators. Often they look so like the actual star and the only theng different will be the nose or eyebrows or shape of lips. I can see how the others might not pay enough attention to recognize her.

    1. Honestly, I would have recognized her as being Adele wearing a fake nose. I have a thing for faces though and would have said, "hey, you look just like Adele with a fake nose!". (And that might be a very tactful thing to say but sometimes, I speak without thinking!)

    1. Oh, I know. I am thinking of Elvis and he would pay for an entire movie theater just to watch a film so he wouldn't be bothered. It must be awful to have people in your face all the time, I would be like Russell Crowe probably and want to throw things at them! :-)

  9. I did see it as I like Mr Norton but I'm not a fan of power ballads... Celine Dion, Adele etc and it's a constant puzzle to me why some artists have a huge following and others do not. Taylor Swift,Lady Gaga,U2, Amy Winehouse... I just don't get their mass appeal, likewise selfies or most other internet trends like ice baths.
    Yours in perplexity,

    1. Graham Norton makes me giggle. (I love the big red chair at the end of the show. So funny!)
I promise you I don't normally like these popular singers of today but Adele is one that deserves the fame, in my opinion, and she not only has a fantastic voice but she is also in that wondrous category that I truly admire, she is a SONGWRITER.
I am one who is perplexed at the world, not you, my friend! :-)

  10. I was hoping you were going to say she wasn't recognised, like when Charlie Chaplin lost a Charlie Chaplin Look-a-Like Contest. I hope you feel better soon. Arm injuries suck.

And I wonder, did they really not recognize her? It seemed that they did not, but one never knows for sure, the Brits are such good actors!

    1. That photo of the yellow rose was taken in the back garden at my in-laws' house in Eastbourne in England. Those poor flowers must grow tired of being stalked by this American woman!

  12. KAY!!! This is so awesome!!!! I am so happy you shared it here. I could NOT stop smiling the entire time I was watching. Did you happen to see the one where she went into the juice store for the Ellen show? If not, you should google that and watch it. It made me laugh SO HARD. Adele is the greatest!!! XOXO, Audrey

Adele just seems to not only be a fantastic singer/songwriter but just a great gal too, don't you think?
(I will look up the video on the Ellen show!)
