"I've Been Good To You"- Smokey Robinson, Tom "T-Bone" Wolk and Daryl Hall

From my last post, I shared a clip of the Beatles on a TV show from England in the early 60's.  One of the songs, "This Boy" was written by John Lennon and it was said that he was influenced by a song by Smokey Robinson, "I've Been Good To You".  I am happy to tell you that I found a great video of Smokey Robinson with Daryl Hall singing this song and I have it for you here!   The video is taken from a TV show called  "Live From Daryl's House".   So happy that I found this! (This has been around since 2007 and was first offered as a free monthly web show, "playing around with friends and putting it on the Internet", is how Daryl Hall described it.  (Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates, remember them?)

In this video, you will see the absolute joy and thrill that the musicians have to be in the presence of the great Smokey Robinson.  Watch it, you will see what I mean!  You can tell they are all big fans.  One very sad note, the man on the guitar who is seated between Smokey Robinson and Daryl Hall is T-Bone Wolk and he was the bassist for Hall and Oates .  T-Bone Wolk passed away, quite unexpectedly at the age of 58, in 2010.  Daryl's Hall last album was dedicated to his friend.

Leaving you with a photo of my handsome son...I keep listening to The Sevens!  I really like their music and hope they are able to put their songs on a CD one day!  Yes, I spend a lot of time listening to music on YouTube but time spent with music is always a good thing, provided the music is good!

    1. I wonder why the videos won't work sometimes that I put on here from Youtube, can anyone tell me?
Of course, looking at my handsome son is also a good thing! Thanks, Debra!

  2. Then I had the great idea to go to YouTube and watch it directly there. Great video! When musicians are just spontaneously jamming among themselves, their true love of music shines through, I think.

  3. I remember when TBone died. I love it when you hear musicians just kind of off the cuff playing. They make perfect music. You son is very handsome indeed! xoDiana

And your son is a handsome young man. So terrific that you get to listen to him sing with his band.

  6. I also spend time listening to music on YouTube; something I enjoy very much. I put on my earphones so I don't disturb anyone else, and listen to some favourite tunes as I read blogs. Nothing like a great song to put you in a good mood.

Your son is a very handsome young man!

    1. Thanks, Kay. You can tell by his face that he is a friendly guy, can't you? He has always been very charming even as a baby!
And he is talented at many things, I have always been amazed by him!

  8. If you keep publishing such pictures of your son and links to his music, there'll soon be a throng of screaming girls in front of your house, waiting for him to show his face at one of the windows :-D

    1. HA! Those screaming girls would be outside our house in vain waiting for a glimpse of C. We really don't see him very much. Maybe that was one reason we loved seeing him in concert in July and September! :-)

I have not been 100% (which is what Richard says when he is not very well) but I hope that I am getting a bit better. As you say, the cooler weather in Georgia along with the colorful leaves...that is also MY favorite time in Georgia too!
So happy to see your comment here and hope YOU are doing well, my friend!
      Love,

  10. Music has always been a huge part of my life. It is sad that someone who loves music as much as I do has no talent. But because I listen to so much music of so many different kinds, I know what good music sounds like. The Sevens have good music. And I love Smokey.

AND you say The Sevens have good music!! YAY! Thank you!!!
I hope that C. and the rest of the band will read your comment (and look at the other post and see that you were once a band manager) and it will encourage them! :-)

    1. Hello! Thanks so much for your comment! I love Smokey Robinson too, you have good taste!
I was able to walk for an hour after work today, so that made it a good day.

  13. How did I miss this post! Handsome shot of Christopher! And I loved the video! I wrote it down on my song list, so I can go back and back. Smokey R. is the best and you can see the joy in their faces. I remember seeing a clip of Van Morrison and John Lee Hooker on a balcony or porch ~ and the rare smile of joy on V's face just to be with JLH ~ That's what this clip made me think of. I spend a lot of time on You Tube with music too ~ although the ads make me nuts. I'll play the same thing over and over just to get around the ads! Any day I can walk outside is wonderful! Have a good one, Kay! *hugs*
