2nd Blog Anniversary And Giveaway!

Tempus fugit!  That's Latin for "time flies".  It's not that I know a lot of Latin, that was the name of our high school yearbook from Rockdale County High School!  Today is my blog anniversary.  I have been writing it for two years now!  Thank you, Meike, for your encouragement in the formation of this blog! I thank all of the nice people who read this blog.  I truly appreciate every one of you.
Having a blog is like having a bridge to other people and other places, and I am grateful for the people and places that I have visited since I began writing my posts.  I hope you have enjoyed my husband's photos! I am grateful that this blog has brought forward another one of Richard's many talents and I am thankful that so many of you have commented on his efforts.

I think that perhaps a giveaway might be in order.  Please, leave a comment here and tell me your FAVORITE photo from this blog and sometime next week, I will put all the names in a hat and draw forth the winner!  The prize will be an Amazon Gift Certificate in the amount of $21.00.  Ha! I bet you're glad I didn't start this on August 1st!

That might sound as if I am showing off to ask you what your favorite photo might be, but it really isn't since I am sure that the photo that you will choose will be one by my husband, Richard.  I only pick the best ones for you and they happen to be Richard's!

Thanks again, I love your comments and emails, they truly make my day. xx

  1. Happy 2nd Blogaversary, Kay! I'm so glad you've joined us. Ummmm... choosing the favorite photo is much too difficult. I was liking the July 19th sunflowers (the field and that last one). Then there were all those gorgeous yellows on June 27th. However, I think I really like the one on July 3rd with the silhouette of your son on Arabia Mountains. So I'll pick that one.

Oh, I love that you chose the one of C. touching the tree on Arabia Mountain!
You know I LOVE your blog and my favorite photo of YOURS is the one where you are holding the sunshine in your hands! Thanks for having that on the side of your blog where I can see it! :-)

  2. Happy 2nd Blogoversary and many more! I enjoy seeing all the photos you post but my faves are from when you visit England. I didn't know that your husband is the Official Photographer of the GGWAEH Blog -- that's super!

GGWAEH...ha, that sound like a sound that a cat makes!
I love your posts and photos with them when you tell us something of the history of the places in Canada, I thought your War of 1812 posts should be in a newspaper or magazine!
(And your funny ones make me giggle!)

  3. Happy 2 years, Kay. I have to say that the photos here are always great but I really loved the photos the other day of the brown thrashers-especially the one of the two on the ground. Those are amazing photos. That being said, don't put my name in the drawing. I have won several giveaways this year and I would really like to have someone else enjoy the win. Blessings- xo Diana

I used to comment on blogs for years before I had my own blog, my goodness, my long comments must have driven people crazy. (They still do, I suppose!HA!)
My favorites of yours? I really love the nature ones that you have, the butterflies, the flowers, but having said that I also love post-boxes and any thing that is man-made that reminds me of England.

  6. Wow, happy blog anniversary!! How nice to have a giveaway. I like so many of your nature pictures, so it's quite hard to choose a favourite! But I remember liking the myrtles in your Lightning post! My Mom showed them to me because we don't have flowers like that here :D
PS -- I saw Mommy's comment in that post just now, and you asking her about the second package. She says yes! she saw your email! She says she was wanting to reply but kept not finding the time to. She hopes you liked it!!

Hey! Tell your Mom not to worry about replying to my email.
I LOVE that fish and Teddy Bear pin, and I was so happy to receive it :-)

  7. Congratulations on two years of blogging! I was thinking what my favourite pic would be, and I knew it would be the fall/autumn colours around Arabia Mountain, so I started having a look back through some posts. Then I spotted the one of your dad with his dog on your post from Thanksgiving 2012, and I thought, that's it!

I always loved the one of the red, double decker bus that you had as your header photo for a while!!!! I feel pretty sure it was taken on your last England trip. I'd go back through the posts to find it but it would probably take me all day! I hope you know the one I'm referring to.... XOXO

I went back and looked at older postings, and I choose the Dec. 16, 2011- Dreaming of an English summer. Picture of Eastbourne - the blue fence and beach, first photo. I suppose because I dream of that summer almost constantly. :<)

  16. Happy 2 year blogiversary! Yours was one of the first I came across and followed - it was the 84 Charing Cross Road post which drew me in. I'm so glad I did find you as you keep me constantly entertained and have a very unique and individual approach. How can I choose just one photo though? Well, I can't, I'm going to choose two and they were both taken by you! The field of sunflowers and your Dad on the kiddy tractor - both make me smile :)

    1. Hey, Julie! Thank you! And I am happy that you mentioned my 84 Charing Cross Road post, I loved that book and movie, maybe someone will see this and read the book or watch the movie! And the Sunflower Festival was so much fun, I love the photo of my Dad on the little tractor too, his zest for life just shines through, doesn't it?
I love all your photos because they remind me of England but you know what, I LOVE your header photo of your mantelpiece, it is a very calming and serene photo.

    1. Oh yes! It is finished (they call it a boardwalk) and it is waiting for you! You will love it! Didn't you see my post about it? The trail is now finished going over to the Nature Center at Panola Mountain, it is 1.7 miles from the barn alongside the Rockdale River Trail. They just put up the new signs, we hope to walk down it very soon!

    2. Denzil,
I just checked with Panola Mountain and the trail to the Nature Center is NOT finished just yet. We walked on it for 1/2 mile from the barn and I won't tell you what they have built there, you will have to find out for yourself!

  22. Dear Ms Kay, happy second anniversary! This is certainly a milestone for you and it's truly amazing how you continuously come up with interesting posts to share to everyone.

I love the fifth photo from this url: http://georgiagirlwithanenglishheart.blogspot.com/2013/08/boardwalk-at-alexander-lake-panola.html because the photographer was able to capture not just the wooden structure of the bridge but also its reflection on the water. And that truly looks so beautiful including the lush trees that look like a backdrop, making the entire photo like a postcard.

I appreciate your every visit to my blog. Happy weekend! :)

  23. Ooh, happy anniversary -- how awesome! And o boy, a giveaway! Well, I think it's really hard to pinpoint a specific favourite picture -- you have so many beautiful shots. I especially love your nature/animal pictures, like the bird ones in the post just before this. But I do recall being struck by the huge yellow rose at your Dad's house (not physically lol) -- how beautiful to be surrounded by such blooms!

  24. Oh dear - there are so many great pictures on your blog that I can not name a favourite one! I suppose that I especially like all the ones taken on Arabia mountain, plus the ones that show you and your lovely family in England, and your Dad who is such a wonderful man.
Anyway, I am very glad I persisted with my "bullying" you into starting your own blog - look at how much it has grown, and gives both you and your many readers a lot of joy and food for thought.

I put a link to your giveaway on my blog, and forgot to leave a comment here to say I would love to participate in the drawing! Does the video of your son singing at Christmas count as a favorite photo? That was my favorite. I have also enjoyed the flowers on your Stone and Arabia mountains. It's really tough to pick a favorite photo. I enjoy your blog so much because your joy and enthusiasm for life shines through. And I really appreciate your support of our military people!
