Go To Your Happy Place

Oh dear, I had a fun trip to the dentist's office this afternoon.  It reminded me of this scene from "Little Shop of Horrors".  NOT that I am saying that my nice dentist is ANYTHING at all like the way that Steve Martin has portrayed a dentist in this movie.  Having said that, it was necessary for me to "go to my happy place"...

In the Peace which passes all understanding...

 In the fresh English air...

Gazing at Stone Mountain...

Having a good cuppa...

Walking on my beloved Arabia Mountain!

All of these make me happy, like I am on top of the world!  (And I needed it, after 2 1/2 hours in a dentist's chair!)  What is your happy place?  Do tell!
The photo above is on top of Panola Mountain this past Saturday and NO, I did NOT slide down on my bottom. I was the first one down! Let's hear it for the old lady. Please don't notice bandage on my nose, you should have seen the other guy!

"Recall a happy memory as often as you like, you can never wear it out".

    1. And I love to hear you play the piano!
Hey, guess what, I can't seem to leave a comment on your posts. I am sure you are in mourning not being able to read my great wisdom! HA!
Not sure why that is, sometimes blogger does things like this to me!

  2. I always head to my happy place while in the dentist chair..or at the receptionist getting the bill! I go to a warm, sunny beach..listen to the waves, smell the sea air..oh, sorry, I was headed off there right now! You have nice happy places with a wonderful family to share it with. I love the pics where we can see you up close..you're so cute! At work I'm always getting teased about "going to my happy place"..and I tell them "yep, I'm going and you're not invited!" Have a great week whether at home or your happy place!

  3. Poor you! I hope you are without pain now, and visiting your happy places helped!
My happy places include the park, Ripon (especially the beautiful walk from there to Fountains Abbey), and the comfort and warmth of my own bed in the evening, with a good read.

    1. I really wasn't in any pain, UNTIL I went to that dentist! :-) No, it really wasn't bad, just being in that chair for so long was not good for my back!
I love the sound of the beautiful walk from Ripon to Fountains Abbey, I hope you get a photo on your next trip.
And I am tired so that comfort and warmth of a nice bed sounds appealing too!

  4. Congratulations on your climb (and descent!) I hate going to the dentist, hope you didn't have too much pain. My happy place is sitting with my Mr sipping cocktails with my little dog sprawled across my lap.

No, it wasn't too bad, I'm just a big baby, that's all!
I like the sound of the cocktails! Cheers!

  5. The dentist would not be my favorite place for sure. I loved the pictures of your happy places. Congrats on doing the climb. Nice to have those places to go to.

    1. Thanks! I will have to let you know what our great "prize" will be for climbing the three monadnocks. Probably a patch or something!
Still, the prize was in being able to do it, I think!

  6. My happy place is my room. Your post though reminded me to visit my dentist for a cleaning... it's high time that I have my teeth cleaned. Have a great week, Ms Kay :)

    1. Ha! One of the lines from the movie is this, "There's always time for dental hygiene"!
Hope you have a great week too, my friend!

  7. I answered your question of Non-fiction books below your comment on my blog. As far as a "happy place"... There was a time, back in Milledgeville, when I had an apartment all to myself, for 6 months. I was depressed and happy at the same time, but it was wonderful. I only hope to get back to that state (minus the depressed part). I also feel that way while walking alone in the forest trails of Rockdale County. To know that I'm the only one for quite a distance, that the world is mine, and mine alone, in all its beauty and wildness, that is my happy place. Walking along the power lines that stretch to the horizon, in awe of mankind's works, of the electricity powering the world right above me, with massive works of steel stuck into the ground like God put forks into the Earth (but it's us!, and God would be very proud of us), and the hot summer sun beating down on me. That is joy, and I can't wait for it to get warmer so I can continue travelling down those roads. As far as a dentist... it's far too late for me on that score, but I have a wonderful Oral Surgeon, Dr. Martin on Eagle's Landing Pkwy in Stockbridge, that will take care of beyond rescue teeth with no pain and no bleeding... I've driven myself home before. So to get rid of pesky Wisdom teeth, he's the ONLY one I would trust.

    1. Hey! I might meet you walking on one of your trails one day...but mostly, we try to stick to Arabia Mountain since that is our favorite! Have you walked to the serpentine bridge yet on the trail that goes all the way to Alexander Lake? It is HILLY!
Love your description of God putting forks into the Earth, it does look just like that!
And thanks for the doctor's name in Stockbridge, that might come in handy for me!
      Thanks for commenting!

  8. My happy place is walking along the towpath in the national park near me (Cuyahoga Valley) or reading in the living room with my little dog at my feet, or remembering the woods behind my grandparent's home - I can only see it in memory since it was cut to the ground in the late 50s....Or remembering my honeymoon when Paul and I hiked through paths along the ridges in Allegheny State Park in New York and never saw another human being all day. And there are lots more happy places. I'm a lucky woman.

    1. I can instantly leave the world and not know anyone exists when I am reading a good book. Don't believe me? Ask my husband! :-)

  12. You are strong to be able to go to your happy place at the dentist! I'll have to try that.
I guess my happy place is home. Like Canadian Chickadee, I'm pretty good at using books to shut out bad things.

Not easy to go to my happy place in a dentist's chair, but I tried my best!

    1. HA!!
And my dentist REALLY looks down in the mouth, especially since he puts you in the chair and jacks it down almost to the floor with your head lower than your toes!

  15. My special place is walking in the bluebell woods near Eastbourne - when we can get there in springtime.

My extra special place is walking along the cliff top at the end of the crofts, watching the sea in all it's moods - with the dog racing ahead and even better when Kate is home and we can have a good gossip whilst we walk.

    1. Oh Pat, that photo of me at the top of my blog amongst the bluebells was taken in those same bluebell woods near Eastbourne! Wouldn't it great to meet you there one day...that will be my new happy place, to think of meeting you in all that lovely blue!
And your cliff top with the sea-watching and talking with your Kate sounds lovely!
Hope your hubby is doing well! xx

  16. For my happy place, I like to think back to our travels through Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. I picture meadows with flowers and green mountains. I imagine walking through all the lovely gardens I've seen. And I love English tea with milk and sugar.
