Somewhere Only We Know

Let's get through this winter by looking at some photos that we took in England in the summer of 2010.
It is a green and pleasant land.

Why don't we go, somewhere only we know...I hope you like that song, it is by Keane, a band from East Sussex, where all of these photos were taken.  (All photos by Richard!)
Can you spot me in one of the photos?  I promise I am not as close to the cliff edge as it looks!
Take care, everyone, and hope you all are having a good week.

  1. Oh, I love that green hillside with the yellow flowers. AND, of course, the cows. Sweet baby cows! Hope you're having a good week, Kay!

    1. Hope you are having a good one too, Audrey!
Those yellow flowers are called buttercups and they are the so tiny, yet with a lot of them they add up to quite a display of color!
And guess what, my Dad had three calves born just this week! :-)

    1. Terry,
You would be surprised at much of it you would recognize! I knew a lot of the flowers and plants from my Beatrix Potter books. Just goes to show what a great observer of nature she truly was!!

  3. What the hell is that egg-shaped thing in the first photo? Some kind of left-over bomb?

    1. That was at the Redoubt in Eastbourne. It was built to make sure that Napoleon wouldn't invade Britain. HE DIDN"T DARE!!!
Now, it is used as a military museum and we really are not positive what that egg-shaped object was, but we thought it could be a mine. (It was from 2010, so we don't remember!)
Also, if you read about the Redoubt, it looks as if Canadian troops were there before the D-Day landings! :-)

    1. Ah, lucky you, I don't get to see it in July with all the summer happenings, that would be nice.
There is a TV show called "DCI Banks" that is set in Yorkshire, I wonder if you have seen it? It's a good show, we really like it.

    2. No, I don't know this TV show, but I think I know the books it is based on, by Peter Robinson if I am not mistaken.

Ah, we think it could be a mine, not sure, see my reply to Debra above!!

Inquiring minds want to know: what on earth is that egg-shaped thing? Do tell...

    1. We think we egg-shaped thing might be some kind of weapon, since it was on display at the Redoubt in Eastbourne.
The summer in England is really something! :-)

  14. Kay- Are those the Cliffs of Dover in the background in the photo of the cows?

    What pastoral, peaceful views!

    1. Those chalky cliffs are truly a beautiful thing to see!
This particular photo was taken at Beachy Head in Eastbourne. A good bit of the southeast coast of England has those white cliffs but most people think of "The White Cliffs of Dover". No wonder, it is such a good song!
Well spotted, since you can barely see the cliffs in this photo!!

    1. Oh, I saw the photos of the blizzard, the newscast advised those who live in the area to make sure they have water and blankets in their cars. That's scary!
You have a wonderful positive way about you, you are my kind of gal! :-)
Thanks for following me. I appreciate it! :-)
