Movie Stars In Conyers, Georgia!

What?  Movie stars?  Can you believe it?  And not just in Conyers, but they are filming right in my neighborhood.  The title of the film will be "Prisoners".  They have set up their trailers in the Methodist church just before the entrance to our subdivision and they are filming in some houses just a few neighborhoods away, just down the road.  I have read that they also did some filming at Stone Mountain!  Another place that is well known to me and to any of my readers.

The stars are Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, and Paul Dano. These are very well known actors!  (Hugh Jackman just won a Golden Globe for Les Miserables.  I love him as Wolverine!)  The director of the movie is a Canadian by the name of Denis Villeneuve and I just looked up his movies and I found the trailer for one of his movies, it is called "Incendies" and it looks like one that I would like to see.  Don't worry, I won't be stalking any of these people.  I would be tickled to see one of them though. If I do, I will let you know!
Hey! I saw Carroll O'Connor once.  Remember him? He was Archie Bunker! Also, he was in "In The Heat of the Night", the TV show which was filmed in Covington, the town just 10 miles from Conyers. He was behind me at a red light and when I saw him in my rear view mirror,  I have to tell you that I mouthed these words to him, "I LOVE YOU".   He put his hand over his heart, bowed his head and smiled at me! Oh, how sweet!  He could have just looked away and pretended not to see me. That's a nice memory.

Did you know that Dakota Fanning and Holly Hunter are both from Conyers?  Dakota Fanning doesn't know me, but my sister knew her father from high school and Holly Hunter's brother was in my class.   Too bad they couldn't get Dakota and Holly in this movie too, then they would be able to stay with their relatives while they were filming.  Oh well, that's show biz!  Keep an eye out for "Prisoners", probably by 2014, I should think.   Still can't find that poem about the "jewelled boats of night" but never give up, never surrender, that's my motto...well me and the Captain from one of my favorite movies, "Galaxy Quest"!
Oh, I LOVE movies, I really do!
Same view of the sunrise that the movie stars will see!

  1. How exciting! I'm sure there's quite a buzz in the air in your neighborhood. I think I'd be doing a little bit of stalking if I was there. Especially since it's Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal :) I once waited a long time outside the back door of a small auditorium with a girlfriend after a small venue (a fundraiser), hoping we'd 'bump' into Burton Cummings, who was playing solo that night, lol! No luck, but then I did actually manage to bump into him a few years later in a small mall in Grande Prairie, Alberta - so it was meant to be. We were there to see The Guess Who - and there he was all by himself a few hours before the show, so I boldly walked right up and struck up a conversation. He has a bit of a funny walk and JJ Hubby still mimics him to this day! I was star-struck for weeks!!

    1. Oh, Jane! How exciting! I loved The Guess Who, I remember my sister had one of their 8 tracks (remember those) and we always listened to it in her car (this would have been about 1973, I think.)
Hey! I didn't know they were Canadian, live and learn, eh?
And it looks as if Burton Cummings is still touring, but only in Canada. Another reason for me to visit Canada.
Your husband is funny, I bet he keeps you in stitches, am I right? :-)

  2. Yes, this is very exciting news Kay! Oh, I'd be stalking them shamelessly! That movie trailer has intrigued me, might give it a go.

    1. I doubt a major movie film crew will ever be this close again to my home, so I intend to make the most of it! I wish I could see one of the stars or the director but if I don't, c'est la vie!

  3. Wow you really do have a lot of celeb stories and siting! I have not really had many. Sam Waterston has a summer home here in our town. I saw him once near the town beach and I was yelling to my kids "Celebrity Sighting"....he is very handsome. Still looking for Robert Redford or Tom Selleck....my two favorites.....

    1. Oh, I love Robert Redford! Make sure you see the movie that he directed "Quiz Show". "It's all for entertainment, truth doesn't matter", that pertains to most TV today!
And you must know that I know "The Way We Were" by heart! Not to mention "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "Sting"!
Tom Selleck married an English girl from East Grinstead, England, when my sister was living there. I think she saw him or else saw the folks trying to find him!

  4. I think I am still under anesthesia....I apparently can't spell anymore either. I am still trying to get rid of autocorrect!

    Forgive my "siting"

    1. Hey, that anesthesia is powerful stuff. Last time I had some, it took me about six months to get over it, no kidding. Be gentle on yourself!! :-)

  5. Oooh, Kay, don't they need extras for the film???? Then we could all try to catch a glimpse of you on the big screen!!!! Wouldn't that be fun??? A lot of things seemed to be filmed in Charlotte (the most recent is Homeland ~ the TV show) and I always hear or read about calls for extras. Hope you're having a good weekend!

    1. HA! They were not casting for crazy wild women who go walking over mountains!
So, why don't we see a curly haired young woman in the background of Homeland? Go on, you know you want to!!
      Take care!

  8. Exciting! I've never seen any of Denis Villeneuve's movies -- they're probably all in French, I would think. He must be getting his Big American Break with this movie.

    1. Yes, and I love movies in French. Sometimes, I can understand it without looking at the sub-titles, IF they say just a few words and say it very s-l-o-w-l-y!

  9. What fun, Kay!
Do you know that Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies, too! I have a DVD copy that I like to play when I especially need a good laugh!
"The Incendies" looks really good. Terry and I just saw "Zero Dark Thirty" today. That was such a good movie.
Run into Hugh Jackman for me!

    1. Oh, my family just LOVES Galaxy Quest! It is so funny and I love every single actor in that movie!
Thanks for telling me that you saw "Zero Dark Thirty". I would like to see it, but these days, I wait until it comes on DVD usually.
And I will give Hugh your love! xx

  10. That is very exciting, Kay! Why are you not stalking these people to get photographs...LOL...I'm just kidding, of course! Still. It is fun!

I love that story about Carroll O'Connor. That is really nice. He was a very talented actor, and I loved his performance in All In The Family!

    1. So happy you liked my Carroll O'Connor story. Everyone loved him while he was here filming, he played a bigot on TV, but of course, he really wasn't, he was just a wonderful actor and all around good guy.
And I don't stalk people, I just wait for them to be drawn to my natural charming self! HA HA

  11. They filmed at our cat shelter once. Turned it into a cat and dog shelter for the day of filming, it was amazing how fast they can set up for it and then after, it's like they were never there.

    1. Oh do tell, what movie was it?
It IS amazing at the things that they do when they film, sometimes they can transform something to be totally diffent than it is! Movie magic! And then after,
      pFFT...they are gone, like magic!

  13. The only name in the list of actors I recognize is Hugh Jackman, but I can't even place a face to the name unless I start googling for his photos :-)
Yeah, I know, I am a bore when it comes to movies - hardly know any current ones!
It must be interesting to later watch the movie and see all the background so familiar to you, especially Stone Mountain.
Two weeks or so ago, I watched something on TV only because it was set in Scarborough. Neither the story nor the actors were particularly gripping, but seeing the familiar surroundings made me quite nostalgic!

    1. I'm terrible too, I hardly know any current movies, but that is what search engines are for!!
Can't wait to see what they will do with this movie and to see the background.
They have filmed several movies in Eastbourne, so I completely understand you seeing the familiar surroundings of Scarborough. I too feel that way for a land that isn't even my homeland but one that I truly love.

  15. We saw Hugh Jackman in Les Mis last weekend and he was brilliant. However, my daughter fell in love with him in Kate and Leopold - she's a sucker for a gentleman. And one of our favourite films is also Galaxy Quest - hilarious and has Alan Rickman in it - says it all really. x

    1. Oh, I love Alan Rickman! I did a post about him last February, during his birthday month.
Did you see Hugh Jackman in a movie called "The Prestige"? It also stars Christian Bale. Watch it if you ever get the chance. It's a good one.
      Thanks for your comment!

  16. Holy smokes!!! Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal & Viola Davis?! WOW! All 3 are practically Gods in my book!! Did you ever see Hugh Jackman in "Oklahoma!"? Whoa! He was INCREDIBLE in it! If you get the DVD I promise you you will re-play Hugh singing "Oh what a beautiful morning" at least 30 times. And he was magnificent as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. If I saw him in person I know I would make such a fool of myself! Dave G in DC
