Sunset Photos

So many things that I want to blog about today, and yet, I am very tired, so they are all jumbled up in my mind.  Better to wait and hopefully, will be better able to post tomorrow. In the meantime, these sunset photos were taken by me in my own yard, backyard in the first photo, and front yard in the second.  (Can anyone see a man's face in the second photo above? It looks like a man wearing glasses, kind of in the middle, to the lower right, do you see him?)  There is a word for finding faces in things, and I have actually written a post about it, but do you think I can remember the word? http://georgiagirlwithanenglishheart.blogspot.com/2012/01/i-see-faces-in-things.html
There, I found the post from January of 2012.
Anyone else remember the "Finding Waldo" books in England, when you had to find the character with glasses wearing a striped red and white shirt?  We had them in the USA, but they were "Finding Wally" books.  I think "Wally" is kind of a funny thing to call someone in England.  Maybe, they had to change the name for that reason.  Our son liked those books a lot, and was very good at spotting him, whether it was Waldo or Wally!  CORRECTION: It is Waldo in the USA and Wally in the UK.  I am afraid that I got the names mixed up. When you are Georgia Girl With An English Heart, that happens quite often! Still don't know why Wally means a stupid person though!

Oh, and I must not forget...a big welcome to any of my new followers, you are much appreciated, as are any of the nice folks who already read my blog. You will see that you are in very good company! The folks who read my blog are the BEST!

    1. And I hardly ever see sunsets, the trees block out most of them. The sunrises are in front of our house and are much easier to see!

It is our way of trying to make sense of the world. Personally, I am still trying.

  4. Dear Kay,

I have missed you!! I haven't had proper internet access since late November and am so glad to be connected again! I hope you had a beautiful and peaceful Christmas with your family! The sunset photos are certainly stunning. I am enjoying the sound of rain on the roof as I type this and we are getting read for a relatively cold day again. I just love winters in Georgia!!

Much love to you and your family! Silke

  5. While i was good at seeing faces in things as a child, i seem to have lost the knack, and never knew there was a name for it.

You have a lovely view from your own home, what a blessing!

Happy New Year, if i don't get to tell you again later.

I only learned that word this past year. Well, I say I learned it, I couldn't remember it!
Oh yeah, look at those big trees JUST behind my house, let's hope we don't have any high winds anytime soon!
Happy new year to you too! xx

  7. Oh yes, I remember the Wally books and I do see the man with glasses in the picture. When I first glanced at the small version of the pic on "My Blogs", I thought I saw a bear face! Interesting.
Love all your photos and your blog. Have a very happy new year.

  8. So many things to enjoy about your post, Kay!

First, your header is beautiful! It brings back memories of the stained glass windows of the Baptist Church in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, which are my earliest "church" memories.

The lambent colors in your backyard sunset are lovely - so much softer and gentler than those in our Colorado skies.

And a new word: pareidolia! Our human brains are designed to find patterns, but mine isn't working right now because I can't see the face. :(

I can definitely relate to the so many things to blog about condition. Your posts are always interesting!

    Have a good weekend!

    1. Oh, Prince Edward Island, is that where you grew up? HOW LOVELY! :-)
I can't thank you enough for saying that my posts are interesting. You are a doll!
My sister lived in Steamboat Springs and then in Denver for years. She got married at Devil's Thumb Ranch. I just looked it up and it looks very expensive now, it was beautiful in 1996 but not as swanky.

    2. I spent part of my childhood in P.E.I. We moved a lot! My father's family is from P.E.I. And my grandmother's second cousin was L.M. Montgomery who wrote "Anne of Green Gables." The dialogue and behavior in AOGG is so my early childhood! And, of course, I went to Cavendish or "Avonlea" as it's called in AOGG many times, especially to swim at the beach.

I'll have to check on Devil's Thumb Ranch. I have never been there. Steamboat Springs is beautiful.

    3. WHAT!!! You are related to L.M. Montgomery? Oh MY goodness! That's great! I LOVE Anne of Green Gables!
When I was a travel agent, one of my favorite customers would go to P.E.I. quite often, and he brought back a doll of "Anne".
I think YOU should write a book about it!

I only got to Colorado a few times while my sister lived there, but she goes back often. She is there right now, in fact!
Thanks so much for your comment, I am so tickled to know you! :-)

Yes, we both love nature! I might have danced with a hummingbird this year, but YOU brought one back to life!

    1. Hey, that nearly reminds me of an old Groucho Marx joke, but I can't remember that either.
I'm hopeless! Wait, I'll look it up...
(One morning, I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I'll never know.)
Apolgies to any elephant lovers out there, I love them too, it is just a joke.
