Did You See This?

Did anyone else see this on the news?  A man in Moultrie, Georgia decided to shave his head in support of his wife going through cancer and found a black spot on his head which turned out to be stage 3 melanoma.  You may read about it at this link- http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/ga-man-shaves-head-support-wife-finds-own-124130509--abc-news-health.html  The support from the community has been overwhelming and makes me feel so hopeful and grateful.

This is the kind of story that just amazes me and one that I like to share with others.   Let me know what you think of it.   Flowers on Arabia Mountain-  this photo taken just before sunset tonight, made me think of this couple in Moultrie.  We lived there when I was a teenager and I wonder if it is possible if they went to the same high school that I went to?  Band Of Gold! (I think that is what they called the band there, if memory serves me correctly!)

    1. Thanks, Kay, it is one that I wanted to make sure that everyone knew about, we don't always hear good things on the news.

  3. Unlikely for me here in Germany to hear about this other than from your blog; goes to show that, more often than not, what we do has consequences very different from what we originally intended.

    1. I looked at one of the English newspapers yesterday, I think it was The Daily Mail, or one of those, and the story was in there too! "Very different from what we originally intended", yes, that is it exactly, and this time, it was for the best all around!

  4. Unlucky to have cancer, but so, so lucky to discover it and receive treatment. It's lovely to hear that they are being supported by their community as well.

  6. I often like to think everything happens for a reason, it's a comfort during bad times, but here's a good example of that, I hope they both make a full recovery. x

  7. Hi Kay~ What an amazing story ~ I've always believed that "everything happens for a reason" and this is a perfect example. I love how their community is coming together to help them. I have so much hair that my dermatologist always tells me that Alain will have to help by searching through all of my locks. I'll have to remind him tonight!!! Aaahhh, I sense a nice scalp massage in my future!

    1. Yes! You can always tell Alain that you must have your scalp checked! Glad you liked this story too, I love it when someone does something good and it works out good for them too, in more ways than one!

  8. I'm so glad he found it hopefully in time. My dad worked outside all of his life and he passed away with skin cancer. It is a heartbreaking disease.

    1. Dear Dorothy,
I am sorry over the loss of your father to skin cancer. My Dad also has worked outside all of his life and that really is his number one concern with his health, he keeps having spots cut off, and so far, they have not turned into cancer but obviously, we are always preaching hats and sunscreen to him.
      Thanks for your comment. xx

    1. Dear Mimi,
It IS amazing. Did you read the story where the Mr. Stringer said that he was a Christian, not a Bible-thumper (which made me giggle) but he felt God's hand in this.

    1. Dear Jenny,
Oh yes, and that makes if difficult to see under the hair like that.
      Thanks for your comment.

  13. God works in mysterious ways. He never would have found that if his wife wasn't ill. I hope they both do great and get well soon. I love stories like this because sometimes we only hear about the bad...and so much good goes on each day. Thanks for sharing.
