Prometheus- A Must See For Me! UPDATE: I DIDN'T LIKE IT!

Last year, I went to see only one film and it was "The Muppets."  I loved it!   There is a movie that will come out in England on June 1st but it will not be released in America until June 8th and it is a movie that Richard and I will most certainly see!   The name of the movie is "Prometheus", directed by Ridley Scott, who is an English director.   Are you familiar with the "Alien " movies with Sigourney Weaver?  (I really like her, she is half English/half American, did you know?)  This movie will explain what happened BEFORE those movies, that is is why it is called a PRE-quel!  Now, I know that there are naysayers who say that people just make movies like this just to make money, but I say "Tosh" to this.  That may be true, but they wouldn't make any money if people didn't want to see them!  I must admit I didn't care for all the extra Alien movies, but the first one and the second one, "Alien" and "Aliens" were very good  and I would recommend both of them.

This new movie, "Prometheus" has an actor that I really liked from a British TV show called "Luther" and the actor's name is Idris Elba.  He is really from London but if you watch the clip from Youtube you can tell that he is doing an American accent  in this movie, and it is a Southern accent at that, and he is very good at it!  It amazes me how British actors can do such a good American accent.  Many times, if you hadn't seem them in an English show, you would never know they were not American.
If you see this movie, I hope that it is a good one, since I have recommended it to you without even seeing it myself!  Let me know what you think of the trailer for this new movie.  It looks good to me!

UPDATE: I must tell you that I did not like this movie at all! Idris Elba was in it for only a short time, and I felt that the movie was very depressing. Not at all like Alien or Aliens with Sigourney Weaver.  There, perhaps you might like it, but as I say, I would never recommend it!

I can't leave you without some photos of Arabia Mountain.  It is so very different that it is like you are on an alien planet, but it is Earth, just a very beautiful part of it. Can you tell how the rock looks like a different color depending on how the sun is shining upon it? Breathtakingly beautiful.

  1. Some Americans can do good English accents as well but I really dislike it when it's done badly. I think it's a knack that some actors have (though no doubt they work very hard at it as well) and some don't. It's also funny watching Welsh actors do English badly and vice versa.

    1. Hey John!
I know you don't watch movies so I was pleasantly surprised to see your comment here, thank you!
And it is funny but I feel the same way about a Southern accent. In many movies and TV shows, there will be a character just dripping in "honey" and "you all" and that's the accent! Horrible!
Please tell me that you have seen the first two Alien movies! :-)

  2. Enjoy the movie, Ms. Kay and I look forward to the movie review you'll be making for this.

The photos from Arabia Mountain are indeed worth capturing! They are gorgeous and breathtaking. Did a professional photographer take this shot? It can be made into lovely postcards :)

    God bless,
    Farida :)

    1. Thank you so much for your comment, Farida! And thank you for becoming a follower. I love your sunflower photo! There is a sunflower festival near my Dad's house in July, so look out for some sunflower photos on my blog this summer!
These photos were taken by my husband, Richard and that last one is me standing looking down into one of the vernal pools on top of Arabia Mountain. Richard takes most of the photos on my blog. If you type in "Arabia Mountain" in my search engine, you can spend hours looking at the photos!!
      May God Bless You!
      Kay :-)

  3. Farida is right - those pictures (did Richard take them, or you?) would make very beautiful postcards indeed!

By the way, the socks are now in a padded envelope, waiting to be taken to the post office :-) (bank holiday here today, so the post office is closed)

    1. Dear Meike,
Richard did, of course! And yes, I think he is very good!
Oh, I am so happy about the hand-knitted socks! Look out for a post about them! :-)

  4. We just recently watched "Alien " with Sigourney Weaver, again, after so many years, and still really enjoyed it. Prometheus looks really interesting, and I'm going to have to check and see if - and when - it plays here. Those photos of Arabia Mountain are stunning, Kay. What a magical place to stroll through.

    1. Hey Sulky Kitten!
I think it looks great! That might be the only movie that I go to see this year. I really don't get out much...except to Arabia Mountain but you can't blame me for that, right? :-)

  6. It's difficult for me to get to movies, so i may have to wait for the DVD.

Love these pictures, this would be a great place to just sit for a while and be.

    1. Like you, I usually wait for the DVD but there are SOME movies that are just better on the big screen...like the Alien movies! :-)
And yes, it is nice to sit there and just be quiet and look all around, a 360 degree view!

  7. Hi Kay, I can't tell you how eagerly we are anticipating this movie!! JJ Hubby and I watch through the Alien movies at least 3-4 times a year, we love them so much :) It seems no matter how many times I watch them, I'm still tense and holding my breath in many spots, haha! They sure have stood the test of time.

Btw, I see a heart in that second pic - I'm sure you saw it too :)

    1. Dear Jane,
Hey! I just knew you would like these movies too! And doesn't this new one look ever so good? I honestly think that I know both of those first two alien movies by heart, especially the second one. "They mostly come out at night, mostly"...hoo boy...scary!!
And you KNOW I can see that heart! :-)

  8. This does look good. I often wonder if Brits doing American accents sound convincing to Americans, but I suppose there are good and bad. What do you think of Hugh Laurie's accent when he plays House?

    1. Hey Tracey!
Some people haven't believed me when I have told them that Hugh Laurie is English! Do you know that I have never watched House, I don't know why...too busy watching all my English shows...New Tricks, Doc Martin, Downton Abbey...just to name a few!

  9. I never tire of your photos of Arabia. Have you mentioned how it got the name, and I've forgotten (or missed it)? My family are Alien fans. Me, not so much. :<)

    1. Dear Nan,
Two things I know about you: you have no plans to dye your hair and you don't like scary movies! Am I right? (I just left that comment to you recently to make you laugh, but I was sincere in that I LOVE that you danced at the concert!)
Arabia! It is funny but no one REALLY knows why is is called that, but it is believed and I think it is very likely that it was called that by the men doing the hot heavy work in the quarry and it must have felt as hot as "Arabia", Saudi Arabia, that is!
